Orlando's favorite characters are Legolas and Romeo Can't Post

2. His favorite characters are Legolas and Romeo
Lord of the Rings fans, rejoice! Though Bloom says he falls in love with every character he tackles, he feels an extra special connection both to his current role as Romeo and to his Lord of the Rings and Hobbit character, Legolas.
“Legolas is my soul and then Romeo is my heart—really this year, I’ve had the chance to live my characterial dreams — is that even a word, characterial?”

4. Viggo Mortensen is the person who’s influenced him the most
Bloom didn’t skip a beat in saying fellow Lord of the Rings costar Viggo Mortensen is the actor he’s worked with who’s had the most influence on his career.
The actor said he and Mortensen spent nearly every day filming together during the two years it took to make the Lord of the Rings films because they are the same height and needed to be filmed to look taller than the actors playing the hobbits.
“Viggo Mortensen had the biggest impact on me in terms of approach, dedication, intention, and artistic outlook and I’m nowhere close to how good he is as an artist and I wouldn’t even put myself in the same category as an actor.” said Bloom.

There's a half hour video of him chatting with ew.com I haven't listened to yet. For anyone who listens, fill us in on the good stuff. :-)

That second quote you posted [In reply to] Can't Post

is interesting, in light of some recent conversations about Viggo Mortensen.
I sometimes forget how young Orlando Bloom was when he was filming LOTR. I like the way Orlando talks about Viggo here.

yes, the same thought came to me [In reply to] Can't Post

I've seen Bloom credit a few actors with being good role models for him and teaching him things.

That tells me he is open to learning and improving himself. And that he sees more experienced people as someone who can teach him things (which many people today are NOT open to). That makes me respect him.

But also, for him to pick Viggo out of that group of people means he has elevated Viggo's advice in value in some manner. That is especially pertinent to the recent conversation we're both remembering.

Thank you for this, Magpie :) [In reply to] Can't Post

My Gosh, he's such a gracious and beautiful soul. Anytime I hear the LotR (and now Hobbit) players talk about each other, there's this wonderful love and respect for each other that just shines through. Make me all teary, oogie, and lonely for their presence during the heyday of the films. *sigh* This just stirred all those good times up for me.

Love Tolkien and Jackson for bringing all of these great times to life.

Here's another interview with Bloom and Lilly that io9 posted this week [In reply to] Can't Post

The article is recently posted but the interview was old.

Quote
"Last year, along with other members of the entertainment press, we were invited to the set of The Hobbit, where we participated in roundtable interviews with both Evangeline Lilly and Orlando Bloom."

Sometimes it's nice just to read the comments and get a perspective from people who hang at different areas of the internet. :-)
