I love what Isaac said about the tone of films slowly shifting towards LOTR because the magic is dying and it's getting more rea.l that's a great way to look at it instead of hearing yet another reason why it's not LOTR true it's not LOTR it's The Hobbit a more magical time when there was less noise and more green. So since we know just how bad it's gonna get for these characters it's best to enjoy this fantastical world because before we know it the fourth age will be here.

That's the way I'm thinking it's going to go also. Progressively darker until by the end of TABA the tone blends right into the rest of the trilogy.
