but if I were to Eowyn would be my choice. I already have long blonde-ish hair and am not exactly short so it would be pretty easy (plus I love her character!)

If I were dressing up as a Middle-earth character, I have a Ring-wraith costume already (with Nazgul sword). If I wanted to come up with an orginal costume, I would go with Strider (or a more genaric Ranger of the North). Instead, my wife is helping me prepare a costume based on the comic-book tale Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, a Victorian-era take on the caped crusader. So, I will basically be a steam-punk Batman.

I'm short, stocky, and blond. Just have to get a fake moustache and some swords, and I'm good.

I checked Aragorn, but my usual costume is a generic ranger (and a girl one. so no King there...)

Fatty Bolger, because then I can be an awesome hobbit without people thinking that I don't look like the actor. All I need is brown pants with suspenders, an off-white shirt and some hairs on my feet. Plus, I like the idea of having some Tookishness & being Merry's brother-in-law.

I'm making Bilbo's jammies and bathrobe to wear with my plush Hobbit slipper feet. I've also got Gandalf's beard, wig and hat... so I might be twisted enough to mix them together ;)

I would LOVE to see someone interpret Smaug into a character. I have a vague idea of how to make it work (involved a lot of wire and moving seperate parts). Want to bet I might get to see someone next year at Comic Con with a awesome Smaug costume

The blue one with the red sleeves! It was so beautiful! I want to wear it to the DOS premier, if I get to go! I added Galadriel's crown to it and the Evenstar! The end result was great!

and if I start taking certain classes to help out with the costumes; and/or come up with the funds for a professional costume design to recreate a costume. If there were no such issues and I could do any costume I liked it would be Thror, an early concept of Thorin or Girion. The older I get the more I am attracted to older male characters. I love Thror's beard and how grand he is. Girion is also very cool to me. I love his look (very impressive armor) and I feel my admiration for Bard growing because of the ties to ancestor and the fears of that same failure. It would be fun to try and create the black arrow too. And my vast enjoyment for RA bringing one of my favorite Tolkien characters to life aside, my Thorin has a long beard. I would insist upon doing that if I chose to cosplay as Thorin. I prefer cosplaying as men because I must completely obscure my appearance when in costume. For me that's part of the fun of doing it, the transformation into something I am not. It's been a while since I've cosplayed, but the Hobbit is slowly inspiring me to experiment again.
