Collecting the precious. Can't Post

Is anyone else annoyed by all the 'collecting the precious' nonsense on this site?
Is this site being paid for all this precious advertising? What's it all about exactly?
Isn't it all in the same spirit of possessivenes that Tolkien so despised, and was in fact criticizing by means of 'the precious'?
Does being ironic make you immune to this criticism?
Are all my sentences questions?
No, they aren't.

Maybe, maybe not [In reply to] Can't Post

The articles are written by fans who collect Tolkien items as a hobby. They are enthusiastic about their collections and eager to share them with others.

The great thing about this site is that we welcome all points of view. I'm not big on collecting figurines and other movie memoribilia, however I have a difficult time resisting a new book about Tolkien. That's my fandom, and helps me understand that other people enjoy collecting something else.

The other great thing is that there's lots of variety on the front page and here on the discussion boards. So if something's not to your liking, you can pass it by and find something that does interest you.

Welcome to the message boards!

I see. Although I don''t appreciate those articles, I did appreciate your thoughtful and polite reply. There are many other interesting articles i do appreciate on this site, and i know those who collect the figurines have a passion i have no right to criticize; I apologize if my original post offended anyone. I was having a bad day!
