It''s International Book Week! Can't Post

The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence. Don't mention the title. Here's mine:

"Then I'd better hang up and start reading."

(Oooh, isn't that always good advice!)

kind of hard to choose... [In reply to] Can't Post

Since I have dozens and dozens of books pretty much equidistant from me. I chose the one that was easiest to pull off the shelf.

(not sure what "past the 5th sentence" means. Are you saying go past the 5th sentence and write the 6th? If so....)

"Both parents watched Leonard Bernstein on TV."

"Well, then, what if a fireman accidentally, really not intending anything, takes a book home with him?" [In reply to] Can't Post

I reached over to my shelf of books waiting for processing here in the library, and the closest was a graphic novelization of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Appropos! Cool

Here's the fifth:

"Mom adored Joan Sutherland, and the sound of coloratura arias filled the house."

I did understand this direction: "Don't mention the title."

"In this fallen world we have as our only guides, prudence, wisdom (rare in youth, too late in age), a clean heart, and fidelity of will... "

(oops, edited to take out the title!)

Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply, and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in November. Happy writing!

I had to go to page 53 - 52 was a map.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

It is from my marketingcommuncations strategy book for school. It is in Dutch, in English it says: "These situations will occur more often". It is about promotions as a marketing tool.
