There has still been no actual release date for the physical product, but it should appear within the next couple of weeks or so. As I've previously posted, The Heart of the Wild is a sourcebook for The One RIng role-playing game and describes the Vales of Anduin and the depths of Mirkwood Forest. Besides being useful as a general resource, the book is indispensable for use with the upcoming campaign book The Darkening of Mirkwood which covers a thirty-year period between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I've updated my review of The Heart of the Wild at Amazon.com. One interesting note about the book: King Thranduil is credited with having more than one son (although there is still no mention of an Elvenqueen). No children of the Elvenking other than Legolas are named.

My physical copy of The Heart of the Wild arrived in today's mail. It's gorgeous! A beautiful, 128-page hardcover with glossy paper, nicely bound. It should hold up well for many a gaming session. The interior is well-organized by region and includes beautifully moody interior art. The cover depicts Radagast the Brown confronting the Children of Shelob in Mirkwood.
