A little blast from the past. Can't Post

The recent TORn Pledge Drive (did you make a donation? Smile), which included some cool items auctioned on eBay, brought back to mind the Rise Up Christchurch fundraiser from back in May 2011, when the Dwarves and Sir Ian all signed a copy of The Hobbit to be auctioned off (and one of our own TORnfolks won it!).

This was before the Dwarves' makeup and costumes had been revealed, and the promotion included a video purporting to be a "first look" at them. For your viewing pleasure:

Just imagine, if they had kept these, ah, "styles" for the movies...Angelic

Ah, gosh, look at those [In reply to] Can't Post

Blush lovely rosy cheeks.
The coloured hoods with the bells.
Thorin's epic beard with curved endings.

I'm really wondering why they didn't stick with this design?

I missed that book went to a TORn-sib. Wow, good to know it got to a fan and not some random autograph collector (although, whoever paid so much money to support Christchurch, they deserve it).

Well, [In reply to] Can't Post

I live in Christchurch, I got all the cash, and I spent it all on...green food. Sly

Green food? [In reply to] Can't Post

You are obviously not a dwarve!

But good to know you had something healthy. If all that money would have gone to crisps, I would have redrawn my words.

Yup [In reply to] Can't Post

One of my prized possessions and well worth what it cost. Even if it was fun arranging to have it shipped to the US, since they didn't have the funds to do so and never dreamed somebody outside of New Zealand would go after it. Cool

Shadowdog, [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't know much about the auction, let alone that you had won it. I'm glad you love your book.
Thanks for supporting us. Smile

Dwarve? [In reply to] Can't Post

Pardon my intrusion, but the singular remains 'dwarf' (or 'Dwarf").

Oops [In reply to] Can't Post

That's what you get when rereading your post, changing, and still missing mistakes (I did make it singular in stead of plural, but missed the -f/-ve).
