So how do you feel about Marvel movies?

I just discovered in watching The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Iron Man 1 and 2 and Captain America in preparation for the Avengers, that I am a big fan of Marvel's movies. I am just curious to see if any other Ringers feel the same. I especially love Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr. rocks it!

Terrific cast though, with great chemistry and interplay between them in The Avengers. Standouts of all movies: Downey, Hiddleston, Hemsworth, Ruffalo, Johansson (in The Avengers, not Iron Man 2), Kingsley.
What they do right is creating movies with great rewatchability. They may not be among the best movies of their respective years, but they are entertaining, well done and mostly with great leading men. Cannot praise eye candy and charisma factor which is off the charts.

but even that one had its occasional moments. I don't care much for superhero stories in general, but these have won me over with their characterizations. I'd like to see what Joss Whedon could do with Scarlett Johanssen in a Black Widow movie; he has a long history of storytelling with strong females. Thor 2 is coming soon, isn't it?

In retrospect, I shouldn't be too shocked at how good Marvel's films have been. The company is smaller and more focused than the shambling bloat that is Warner Bros. (the creation of DC Entertainment has not helped as much as I expected it to). Even being purchased by Disney has been a good thing for Marvel--so far. It helps that the studio has managed to acquire (and hold on to!) top talent.
Oddly, many of the best movies based on DC properties have been non-superhero films such as Red, Road to Perdition and A History of Violence. Maybe it's time for that Swamp Thing reboot.

I thought it was great how Chris Hemsworth's '12 minutes as a star ship captain' caught everyone's attention so much that he was cast as Thor. I had wondered who he was when watching ST also! I thought he was a perfect Thor, bringing a lot of depth to the tale of his arrogance and prideful failings, the loss of his powers, and how he dealt with it and redeemed himself.
Then I was also impressed with Tom Hiddleston and how he presented the Loki character. Definitely I was one of those who was astounded by this essentially unknown young actor holding his own with the likes of Anthony Hopkins, and found myself doing the TIGWIT :-), the Marvel equivalent of FIGWIT -- "Thor is Grea- Who is That??" :-).
It was not until the Avengers movie though, that I got clued in to how all the previous movies' tied in to it. Then I went back and watched Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, etc.
I liked all of them. They're a lot of fun, plain and simple, lots of charisma, screen presence, and good chemistry in there. And mixed up in it are some lessons to think about, about power and responsibility, about having it and not having it, and what you do with it once you get it.
I'm really looking forward to Thor 2. I've seen the trailer and just cannot wait!

They've put out some pretty good movies, but I feel like they're milking the franchise dry at this point. Do we really need so many sequels so frequently?

I think they're good popcorn flicks that are enjoyable to watch every now and again. I'm not a huge superhero fan, so that plays into it quite a bit. I've seen Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers so far. Is The Amazing Spider-man considered a Marvel movie? If so, I quite like that one. I'm really looking forward to its sequel.

Hemsworth is great in it and the movie is really really great too. Belongs to Daniel Bruhl, though, but Hemsworth is an apt co-star. He'll go places.

Or do we need EEs? Studios are looking for ways to make money and Marvel beat them to a pulp with their strategy. They are the kings of the decade and that's that.

Slightly off-topic, but I wasn't completely happy with Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman proposal (it has been so long, though, that I would have to be reminded of what the treatment was before I could list my own objections). However, he seems perfectly willing to modify his treatment if only Warners would tell him what they wanted. Unfortunately, no one at the studio had a clear vision of what a Wonder Woman movie should be; all they could say was that that wasn't it. Too many cooks.

Reason why Black Widow movie wouldn't work is that Johnasson isn't charismatic. She's a fine actress and gorgeous to look at but not a charisma to carry a movie by herself, especially a big one. So Wonder Woman needs to fix that problem too. Adrianne Palicki types won't do the trick (she didn't do the trick on TV let alone movies).

As someone who has never been a fan of super heroes I was a little apprehensive when I went to see Iron Man... I enjoyed it a lot and have seen (and liked) most of Marvel's other movies since then. As a physics nut I liked many of the references to particle accelerators and new elements (even if all my friends think I am crazy).
