Perhaps just file this under interesting coincidence:


But it does call to mind the Battle if the 5 Armies and how Peter Jackson may deploy the eagles. If you've read the above article, you know that the giant eagles used a kill technique different from the typical, and authentic, grab-and-drop we've seen in previous movies. If PJ had them pinioning their victims for a death strike at the back of the skull, this would be new to what we've previously seen and could bring an eagle down to ground level for some inventive one-on-one engagement. Especially if they were fighting something that was too large for them to lift. Ginormous outstretched wings could also sweep away quite a few orcs or offer temporary protection to men or dwarves.

A thought-provoking article that, even though it's a year too early, got me thinking out loud. Smile
