Reasons why I'm not eager for a Silmarillion film. Can't Post

Or even a TV mini-series, or a series of films. Now, I don't quite believe all of this, this is a little tongue in cheek, but I would have fears!

1) The trailers. I can see it now. A deep voice. 'In ages gone by,' boom, 'Conflict, peril, genuis ruled,' more boomings, 'Elves and men fought demons, evil and themselves, ' more booms, shot to a battle or fight scene with the usual chorus of singing and violins. Why they have this in every sci-fi or fantasy trailer, I don't know. Anyway, I think the cinema world can live without this one!

2) The merchandising. Noldor lego! I think Feanor would turn in his prison in Mandos at the thought! The video game. War in the er, even more north! Possibly fast food chains using Silmarillion characters to advertise bargain fries or something. And alcohol companies advertising beer on the back like Strongbow cider. Oh, all right maybe Tolkien did a little as well. But I can imagine a lot more if the movie was any type of success.

3) The plot itself. Any film or TV director be it PJ or anyone else would undoubly have to cut large parts of the tale. And it would always be someone's favorite part. I actually quite like some of the quieter parts and I just know that there would be a good chance of them been cut. And maybe replaced by the director's own plotline. See below!

4) The directors sub-plot. Or not even a sub-plot in the Hobbit! I remain distinctly underwhelmed by PJ's own material that he put into his four films so far and I shudder to think what he might do to any Silmarillion adaptation. And it's not just him, just about every director or producer likes to do this.
