How are our California Tornsibs? Can't Post

The fires sound very bad at this point, from Yosemite to San Francisco. Hope rain comes your way, and stay safe, everyone.

Fires [In reply to] Can't Post

The Yosemite fire is close to us and they are taking measures to protect the Sequoia's. Those trees have lived thousands of years though and have seen many a wildfire.

Houses in the area are now in the path as of this morning. The terrain is difficult to get to and control and there is a lot of underbrush fueling it.

We are in town here and safe though. I was just up in Roseville last week and the ash from the fire up near Auburn was on our cars at the hotel in the morning.

A very hot July has not helped the state either. We really need some cool weather and a favorable winds to blow it back the other way.

Here is the latest:

Ash in Roseville??? [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow, that's crazy, considering how far it is to Foresthill... I live about fifteen minutes from Roseville and all we had was lots and lots of smoke. I'm actually right near McClellan, and until just the last day or two the planes with the fire retardant were taking off from there about once every half hour. It's starting to subside now, but the last thing I read said they won't have full containment of the Yosemite fire for another three weeks!! Is your town still okay?

Yeah [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm in Fresno so we're fine. the Yosemite fire is way northeast. Air quality is terrible though in the Valley from the whole thing.

I was surprised at the ash (it was a very small amount) on the car at the hotel where I was staying. I know someone that lives in Forest Hill who comes down to Roseville for work and she says it's a mess up there.

The Yosemite fire hopefully will be contained shortly. There is also one southeast of here as well right now. Bad year for fires.
