Nazgul [In reply to] Can't Post

Anyone can kill a Shade if you stab them in the heart. The requirements for killing a Nazgul (or the Witch-king, at any rate) are a bit more convoluted. First, you have to have a Barrow-blade specifically designed to kill him, and then you need someone other than a man to stab him with it. If he attacks a human army, he's pretty much invincible. Plus, he doesn't seem to have a tangible body, as he needs clothes, armor, etc. to give him shape. Therefore, if he found himself in dire straits he could ditch all that, as the Nazgul were forced to do after Elrond flooded the Bruinen. Granted, the Nazgul's ability to interact with the tangible world seems lessened when they do so, but, hey, it would keep him in the running.

So, yeah, Nazgul.

"I had forgotten that. It is hard to be sure of anything among so many marvels. The world is all grown strange. Elf and Dwarf in company walk in our daily fields; and folk speak with the Lady of the Wood and yet live; and the Sword comes back to war that was broken in the long ages ere the fathers of our fathers rode into the Mark! How shall a man judge what to do in such times?"

"As he ever has judged. Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house."
