Congrats! [In reply to] Can't Post

I remember becoming an aunt at the age of 15 from my older brother...hoping that my sister my give me a niece, eventually :)

Amy: Then why am I here?
The Doctor: Because! Because I can't see it anymore.
Amy: See what?
The Doctor: I'm 907. After a while... you just can't see it!
Amy: See what?
The Doctor: Everything! I look at a star and it's just a big ball of burning gas and I know how it began and I know how it ends and I was probably there both times. After a while, everything is just stuff! That's the problem. You make all of space and time your backyard and what do you have? A backyard. But you, you can see it. And when you see it, I see it.

That's awesome -- and you're doing the aunt thing in style, with twins! Twice as much fun, and quadruple the mischief. Smile

Congragulations, auntwife! [In reply to] Can't Post

Unfortunately, my sister is still an auntmaiden - so I am not there yet...

Have lots of fun, and congragulations to the new cousins as well!

Congrats auntie!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm also an auntie of two (although not twins) and it is so much fun.
You get to do all the silly stuff with them (why people think it is strange when I sing on my own in a store, but when I sing to a kid it's not Crazy) and when you get enough of them or they start to cry, you just hand them back to mum and dad. Great invention those nieces and nephews.

Congratulations [In reply to] Can't Post

to you and your family. Hope the twins are doing well. Being an aunt can bring the best of both worlds- as Rosie says- the benefits are having fun and not being responsible for the discipline side of things, but being able to hand them back to their parents at the end of the day!

Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in November. Happy writing!

Jumping in late.. [In reply to] Can't Post

But still can I say,

{{HUGE HUGS}}} congrads, and blessings to all the happy family! And as a former preemie myself, I wish the little gal and guy the best of their "catching up days."

Just as much fun as being an aunt is watching others much younger than yourself become one. A decade ago I did some volunteer work part-time in an afterschool YMCA program at an elementary school. It disconcerts me now to think that my kindergartenders are now in high school. Ah, make me feel old...CrazyEvil
And when they are 8 or 9 and they are pushing a stroller with a toddler in it and you ask them how old their brother or sister is, and they say, "oh no, I'm her aunt." Or a little boy says "I'm his uncle." *IS there ANYTHING* more adorable??

Thanks so much! And I always thought it was so funny when I was a kid when someone my age would say they are and aunt/uncle. Seemed like a non-sequiter somehow.CrazySmile

*hugs* [In reply to] Can't Post

Oh yeah, many, many times over. I'm the second youngest of 5 kids, my eldest nephew is 30 and the youngest, a niece is 6, so quite a big age range too Laugh Between the five of us we've got 22 kids, we're taking over Australia. ShockedBlush

I just wish I lived closer.

Do yours live close to your area?

Do they like Tolkien? I'm wondering what my indoctrination methods should be.AngelicWink

They live close [In reply to] Can't Post

about 15km away. I see them a few times a month. With my busy life and that of them and their parents, it is hard to get together.

They are still a bit too young for Tolkien. My nephew is 3.5 years old and my niece almost 5 months. But they are teaching my nephew the correct things. Started with a dragon as a stuffed animal for him. He now has 4 different ones to take to bed with him and one huge one as a kind of a bean bag. So I think when he is a bit older I can get him into Tolkien. His father is a fan, so that won't be too much of a problem Wink.
