Once again WB is putting the spotlight on the elves.

The Hobbit just jumped the shark! [In reply to] Can't Post

Two characters appearing who wasn't in the book? This cannot be tolerated, I call a boycott in the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, because we know (= we just do) that's what he would have wanted!

They look awesome. Like a proper image of fantasy Elves! [In reply to] Can't Post

I especially think with Tauriel, how can anyone fail to fall in love with her?? Evangeline Lily was the perfect choice for this role and I can't wait to see her in action.

I like it :-) [In reply to] Can't Post

It is *only* one shot (and one we've already seen, albeit, at a different angle). It's not supposed to give us an impression/overview of the entire film (are there any more?), nor does it suggest that all we see in DOS is these two.

It's nice to have a "natural" photo as well - no CGI, no forced poses, frowns, smiles etc.

I think E.Lilly makes a great Elf.

Smile

My "It is our fight" Tauriel (Rosie the Riveter-themed) poster came in the mail from TORN the other day. Looks fabulous! A great item that I'm happy to have now. Smile

Completely agree [In reply to] Can't Post

The "naturalness" is what I noticed first. I really like it.

I'm still looking forward to Tauriel. Sure, she's not in the book, but I think she's going to be a nice addition and extra face of the Elves.

ETA - I can't tell, but is that Tauriel's hair that goes all the way down to her knee?? Or is it blending with some part of her costume?

And they're not doing anything objectionable. Like fighting. Or kissing.

So this purist, at least, is okay with it! TongueCool

Yes, she has very long hair. [In reply to] Can't Post

See this figure of Tauriel. The above shot (in the OP) is the closest we've seen to her back.

I hope we get more shots/promotional images like this before the film. The naturalness to it is brilliant.

I'm with you on the natural look. I know the first one had more work done on it, but both look fantastic to me. This scene, once put together, should look beautiful.

It's a lovely photo. I love the lighting in it, and the movement in her hair. Really attractive. (But if her hair's that long, I hope she remembers to tie it up when on duty - it could really get in the way!)

Really indifferent on the two myself-could have down without Orlando the ninja plank returning, intrigued by Tauriel's role-as long as 'It is OUR fights' isn't hammered home as much as I fear 'Look its a FIGHTING WOMAN! Awesome!' and the frankly sickening romance stuff I really really hope turns out to be false.

Why no still's of Bilbo? This is the Hobbit not The Legolas.

The Talking Purse is Awesome, deal with it.

I still can't tell [In reply to] Can't Post

There's a little piece at the end that twists around more than I think hair would, and it's on both the action figure and this new picture. That's why I can't tell if her hair ends higher up or if it extends to her knees. It doesn't really matter, but I am curious.

Hair movement [In reply to] Can't Post

If there's something I love, it's seeing things blow in the wind. Don't ask why, I just do. So I totally agree that her hair is beautiful. I hope she'll at least put it up for BoFA (if she's there). I doubt it, but I would like it.

(Assuming the translation of the Cinema article on Thorinoakenshield.net is accurate, of course!)

Mind you, the photo is quite nice...I just dislike the totally impractical hair - and why is her clothing brighter than Legolas's? Harder to camouflage, I would have thought...

Beautiful image. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm looking forward to the Elves of Mirkwood, though I'm not usually that much of an Elf fan. Bring on Thranduil, Legolas and Tauriel!

I still think that the Elves are being featured in the early publicity stuff to differentiate DoS from AUJ and attract Legolas fans and Elf lovers.

But then, I didn't think that Bilbo disappeared from AUJ either, any more than he did from the book in which for a good part of the early journey he is essentially a piece of luggage with a POV.
