I'm sure your Goldberry would have loved all of this too! [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, we are here Bomby and you know where to find us! Angelic

Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply, and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in November. Happy writing!

No burden at all ^^ [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sure almost all of us here have lost someone dear to them, and can relate. I know I haven't been a member as long as many people here, but I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we're sorry for your loss.

The Doctor: ... No! No! Nonononononono, it's... not like that. That's not what I'm like!
Amy: Then what are you like?
The Doctor: I dunno, Gandalf. Like a space Gandalf. Or that little green guy in Star Wars...

She had a dream Bombi. [In reply to] Can't Post

And it was a beautiful dream:).
And the love between you both does not sleep. It lives as the Mystery and Joy lives, that is made tangible because of Tom, that very essence that dwelt in his house. It is vital and real.

So many 'tangibles' such as this dwell in the essence of Tolkien i believe, and that is principally why i feel, we are all here. It is a particular journey of spirit, if i may, as language is left wanting in the face of pure wonder, where our humanity always has cause to reach out to fathom, to grasp the seemingly Intangible.

Take heart Bombi and gather your lilies still:)

''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III

Faerie contains many things besides elves and fays and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are one in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted."
J.R.R. Tolkien

I'm so very sorry, Bomby [In reply to] Can't Post

and I am sure your Real Goldberry put the book one to shame.
At any rate I'm guessing this little poem would be fitting:

“Hey! Come merry dol! derry dol! My darling!

Light goes the weather-wind and the feathered starling.

Down along under the Hill, shining in the sunlight,

Waiting on the doorstep for the cold starlight,

There my pretty lady is, River-woman's daughter,

Slender as the willow-wand, clearer than the water."

“In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold, we are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.”

Bomby, [In reply to] Can't Post

I would like to make a small contribution to the memory of your Goldberry. Would you let me plant something in my garden for her? That way she would have a little piece of New Zealand earth to call her own.
Did she have any favourites? My garden is not very big, but there is definitely a space for something to grow in Goldberry's memory. Smile

I wish I could have known your Goldberry...from the way you describe her and speak of her with such love, she must have been beautiful through and through.

"It was just a sword, beautiful in the way of a weapon, with the jewels in the hilt set in gold scrollwork, and the blade glimmering and eager, as if it would fight of itself. Weapons are named for this; some are eager fighters, some dogged, some unwilling; but all are alive."--The Hollow Hills

Missing someone does come in WAVES? [In reply to] Can't Post

sweeping you off your feet...
Then It passes,
and you get up again.

Try to put it away in a Box?
when there is No BOX?

One time on our Computer,
we were Flying over the Hobbiton set
( GoogleEarth, )and Goldberry noticed there
is a Very Large OLD Forest west of there.

"Wow, wouldn't that be nice place to camp?"
so that became our Goal when Goldberry beat this.

Anyone know who owns that?

There might be some way
to build a B&B inside this Forest!
(Bomby is pretty a good carpenter)

For Goldberry [In reply to] Can't Post

In the forests of the far north you will find the cloudberry, a lustrous golden berry. When we lived in Sweden, I used to think that Professor Tolkien must have seen them in late summer and named his beautiful Goldberry for them. They should be appearing just about now.
Cheers, Bomby.Evil

Oh yes [In reply to] Can't Post

Sometimes in the most unexpected moments I get a wave like that about my mother or my father (or both).
And there really isn't a box to put it away in, is there? I think we just have to accept those waves as part of the fibre of ourselves, and ride them, as you are doing.

I am not sure about the forest you mention, but I would hazard a guess that someone around here knows something about it.

Lissuin, does that mean that the Whole Forest? [In reply to] Can't Post

Would be off-Limits to any small Development?
Maybe just corner of it
for an RV Park, or something similar
like a permanent campsite for those that
"are passing into the West"?

and maybe someone with
a Lot of Pull,
like PJ
might find it in his Heart
to help fund such a final little green garden space?

Sorta a " Make a Wish" Foundation type of thing.
