AUJ Extended Edition - Premium Bilbo's Trunk Edition! Can't Post

While it doesn't explicitly state it's for the EE, it has to be surely!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/...lu-ray/dp/B00DY6494A

This could be magnificent!

Yep [In reply to] Can't Post

As expected, it seems many options will be available.

Clearly this will be a replica trunk (hopefully wooden) which opens up to house the EE, along with possibly some other goodies (perhaps a replica of the red book, a map, the drawing of Bilbo?). The possibilities are exciting.

I'm torn.... [In reply to] Can't Post

Not sure if I should buy individual extended edition as they are released or wait for the box with all three, that may have even better goodies, and will/should look awesome next to my EE LOTR blu ray set.

So by trunk I assume they mean the small chest from the trolls [In reply to] Can't Post

That Gloin buries in the troll cave and we see earlier in Bag End.

Also, looks like it's coming in a steelbook:

I have to say, I wasn't aware of this steelbook & mug set:

I would have thought... [In reply to] Can't Post

Bilbo's trunk would refer to the chest he opened at the beginning, in which he keeps the Red Book along with other things important to him.

Which I thought was the same chest that Gloin buries? As he later says "It still smells of troll" [In reply to] Can't Post

Or am I jumping to false conclusions?

Good point! [In reply to] Can't Post

He's talking to Frodo about a chest of gold and says it still smells of troll, but is that the same one he keeps his personal belongings in? I hadn't really thought about it before to be honest with you. I just assumed they were different, and now I'm not sure!

Here's an image of the troll chest. It looks a little small to me:

Shouldn't do [In reply to] Can't Post

I imagine the chest will be the outer box which houses the EE itself and some other goodies. It would be wonderful if the EE was packaged like the red book so it looked truly appropriate in the chest, but who knows at this stage.

Much too small [In reply to] Can't Post

Here's Bilbo's trunk
http://i2.wp.com/...eencaps.com-1054.jpg

So this is the design for the gift set. Nothing to do the trolls. It's a bit plain from the looks of it...

They'll probably spruce it up a bit [In reply to] Can't Post

They'll no doubt etch 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Extended Edition' on the front for starters. Plus I'm hoping the inside is where the best stuff is.

When Bilbo mentions the small chest a chest is shown [In reply to] Can't Post

But it's different again from the one in the troll cave. So who knows why it smells of troll.

edit: it's a box. My monitor is dark, sorry Blush

Scale [In reply to] Can't Post

Obviously it will be a lot smaller than the ones in the film, so not being an exact replica should give them a bit more freedom with the design.

Since the two chests are completely different ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm guessing that when Bilbo says the chest still smells of Troll, he isn't talking about the chest we're shown. Confusing, since that is what it implies. He could be saying: the chest from the hoard smells of Troll, while hiding treasures in other places. Perhaps the Troll chest is even inside the Bag End chest?
