Evangeline Lilly Hits San Diego Comic-Con to Introduce New Children's Book

The Squickerwonkers

Los Angeles, CA July 12th, 2013 Coming to San Diego's Comic-Con next week, Evangeline Lilly, known for starring as Kate Austen in ABC's LOST and as Tauriel in the upcoming The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug film, will be introducing her first children'ss book, The Squickerwonkers.

In her new role as an author, Lilly wrote The Squickerwonkers with illustrator Johnny Fraser Allen, of Weta Workshop, spinning a masterful tale. The book tells the story of a young girl who falls in with an interesting troupe of characters. As you delve deeper into the story, the dark and cautionary message delivered to the young reader is deliciously surprising.

"When Johnny and I sat down to create this book together we wanted to make a book that we would like to have read as children and that we would still enjoy as adults today‚Ķand that is exactly what we did,"Ě Evangeline said.

In support of her new book, Lilly will be signing and selling limited edition, first run copies of The Squickerwonkers at the Weta workshop booth (#3513B) with illustrator, Johnny Fraser-Allen. The book features a foreword by The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings director and writers, Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

Thursday, July 18th: 11am - 12pm and 4pm - 5pm
Friday, July 19th: 11am - 12pm and 4pm - 5pm

Art imitates life? [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd like to know whether there are parallels between her new story and her experiences working on the Hobbit. A young girl who falls in with an interesting troupe of characters, indeed! What might the dark and cautionary moral of the story be? Wink

Hm, not on Amazon yet... [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, of course, working in a children's library, I'd love to see the book - and see if we could acquire a copy! Wink

Awesome [In reply to] Can't Post

If you get a chance, get the book.
I have seen an exhibition with art work from Johnny Fraser Allen, it was amazing! So just for the art work, I would love to have it.
(if anybody is reading and has a chance to get a copy for me... pretty please, smiling sweetest smile Heart)

That's awesome :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope TORn gets a chance to do a review on her book. She's really something :D Knowing she's done this after reading that small snippet about her 3 yo son and his banana episode is just fabulous! I love seeing her do so well.

I still think she'd be wonderful playing Katherine Hepburn. The resemblance is so close... and her spirit/presence would do the magnificent Kate ;) proud.
