Our Company in the Piles of Gold? Can't Post

That should be a Really stunning scene...
Trying on Crowns, Armor, Weapons...swimming in Gold.
WOW!
Thorin giving Bilbo the Mithral shirt?
Bombur trying to find the Ancient kitchens?
Oin and Gloin starting a Bonfire?
In 3D! the flicker of Flames glinting off the Coins, jewels, etc.

We saw in the last Vlog, weapons covered with spider webs, standing in a Showcase.
The Size of the pile in shots we have seen so far...
IT's probably the largest pile of Gold ever in any movie.

Just for Fun, maybe Ori Shield Surfs down the Pile?

Be a perfect place for a talking purse cameo... [In reply to] Can't Post

Majestic magical gold...just saying. I really really hope they fit in Thorin and the Harp...

I agree this should be a great scene. I sincrely hope PJ goes a little gimmicky with the 3D I want to be poked in the eye by Smaug's fire!

The Talking Purse is Awesome, deal with it.

i'd like it to get persona [In reply to] Can't Post

thorin and balin lived there. probably some others.

i'd love to see them go to their own, personal rooms / bedrooms / chambers, and look at their belongings again, some of which undoubtedly would have connections to friends and kindred dead now, because of the attack.

cheers ---

aka. fili orc-enshield
+++++++++++++++++++
the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."

this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel telpemairo

Can't wait for the gift of the Mithril shirt Bomby [In reply to] Can't Post

That's a real gem (haha) of a scene - I posted a few months ago on how pivotal that scene is for the hope of Middle Earth, as that shirt and Thorin's spontaneous gift will have unforeseen effects into the future. I think its going to be very well done...a spot of real and personal connection between Thorin and Bilbo.

Magical instruments are in the text - wonder if they will include a few fun harps and such in the lot?

Coming soon!- The first TORn Amateur Symposium, starts Sunday 21st July in the Reading Room. Closing date for essay submission Sunday 14th July, but even if you don't submit, join us for some interesting discussion on some different and personal ways of looking at Tolkien's work.

Foreboding..Feel when he puts this Shirt on?
Like when it, saved Frodo in Moria?

Mac..Their Chambers? Could be a real Tear Jerker.

60 years is enough to dissolve the Bodies, but it seems there maybe a number of Skeletons,
unless Smaug ate them all?

I'm personally Excited to see Bombur finding their Vast Kitchens and Cooking up a BANQUET
Made for Kings!

NOW! THATS where there will Song!

Won't Nori go berserk? // [In reply to] Can't Post

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

HOW each Dwarve Reacts? [In reply to] Can't Post

Reveals their True Character...
Maybe there is a Vast Library where
ORi can get lost reading about their History.

Dwalin & Bofur will want to examine their Forges..
Along with Kili getting his hands on ALL their Arrows?

The whole Musical instruments idea...Please include this? The sound in this section will SOAR!

Beautiful ideas! [In reply to] Can't Post

So many possibilities this scene offers... I can only second everyone's thoughts.

The one thing I really want to see, though (other than the mithril shirt, but we *know* that has to be in there), is Fili and Kili ignoring the money and going for the musical instruments. I always thought that said so much about their characters, how they do not fall prey to the dragon sickness. In stark contrast to their uncle, of course. Unimpressed

"I had forgotten that. It is hard to be sure of anything among so many marvels. The world is all grown strange. Elf and Dwarf in company walk in our daily fields; and folk speak with the Lady of the Wood and yet live; and the Sword comes back to war that was broken in the long ages ere the fathers of our fathers rode into the Mark! How shall a man judge what to do in such times?"

"As he ever has judged. Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house."

We did get to SEE some Highlights of the Interior... [In reply to] Can't Post

The Deep Mines.
Thor's Throne.
But Bomby's, like the rest of you probably want to see More.

Will Thorin sit on his Grandfather's Throne?
Will they shapen Weapons in the Smithy?
Will they re-enter and settle into the Homes?
Will they Restore much?

There will be be a period where they feel "Mission accomplished"
only the realize the growing Threats from outside?
That period of Celebration should be a real Highlight of TDoS!

A bit of bittersweetness too maybe - will some of the dead be recognized by their gear?

I would like to see all the things you suggest. My guess is that in the smaller areas connected by halls (like the apartments), Smaug cannot have changed much - will probably just be dusty and exactly as it was on the day they left.

Amazing Effect
Bomby's been trying to ADD Sound to these images...

Huge Echoing Vaults?

Deep Male chorus .
.
Deep Silence at times..?

The look of tears in their eyes quietly
from the others
as Thorin & Balin, look sooo sad...
at What was
Once there.

Maybe a musical mix of mood too - The Erebor theme, slow and deep: similar to Fellowship entering Moria maybe, but an altered tune, (sadder?) and as you say a male chorus? Maybe interspersed with flashbacks of happier days and happier sounds too.

Different for the younger Dwarves - all anxious adventure to them, maybe even exciting. For those who lived there, different feelings. RA has said that to import the event into his heart he likens it to a cultural Hiroshima...so we may have sadness in our older Dwarves yet maybe some whimsy in the younger (magically tuned harps anyone?)

Perhaps the resilient younger lead the older from grief into celebration, and an impromptu tune. Thorin smiling a real smile. That's worth a special piece of music.

Like Dale, now we can play Before&After easier.

This is a Destruction Zone,

Sure, Howard will rock us with

In that way more *sad* than Moria, who we hear described in Gimli's words but never see in its grand, busy glory days.

Would have been beautiful. As Erebor was (and will be again).

It WILL be extraordinary I am sure Bomby. Angelic Between SPJ, our cast and HS. I have great faith in the teamwork.
