oh! [In reply to] Can't Post

quite so, silverlode! : ) indeed.

but all that pounding of the noggin against the doors, those hours in the makeup chair, all those hot days under flame-retardant prosthetics +do+ take their toll...

here's a recent pic in which jed is mistaking aiden's rear end for the gates of minas tirith...

jed's little mistake

cheers --

aka. fili orc-enshield
the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."

this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel telpemairo

Huan's voice: short job for Christopher Lee, then ? // [In reply to] Can't Post

Disclaimers: The words of noWizardme may stand on their heads! I'm often wrong about things, and its fun to be taught more....

"nowimë I am in the West, Furincurunir to the Dwarves (or at least, to their best friend) and by other names in other lands. Mostly they just say 'Oh no it's him - look busy!' "
Or "Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!"

My Choices [In reply to] Can't Post

I have always pictured Jennifer Connelly as Luthien. Jet black hair, green eyes, and natural grace. And she's a truly good actress. Yes, she's 42 but she is still gorgeous and youthful-looking, yet she has the maturity and gravity needed for Luthien.

For Beren I've always imagined Eric Bana: he does ruggedly handsome very well, and he's also a good, versatile actor. Christian Bale is another possibility (though I've always imagined him as Turin).

I hestitated to respond to this but here would be my current picks [In reply to] Can't Post

The Tale of Beren and Luthien

Director: Chris Columbus
Producer: Chris Columbus
Music: John Williams
Budget: $80 million (yes, this is low but I think a lower budget would pressure them to keep the film simpler which would likely result in a tighter story)

Beren: Sam Worthington or Dominic Cooper, maybe Tom Hardy

Luthien: Alice Eve or Katie McGrath

Melkor: Derek Jacobi

Finrod: Ioan Gruffudd

Sauron: Benedict Cumberbatch

Thingol: Hugh Laurie or Ralph Fiennes

Melian: Rachel Weisz or Kate Beckinsale

Huan: Ben Kingsley

Feanor: Gary Oldman

Maedhros: Daniel Day Lewis

Maglor: Pierce Brosnan

Celegorm: Paul Bettany

Caranthir: Jason Statham or Clive Owen

Curufin: David Tennant

Amrod: Jude Law

Amras: Tom Hiddleston or Ewan McGregor

Celebrimbor: James MacAvoy

Daeron: Ben Barnes

Barahir: Anthony Hopkins or Pierce Brosnan

Obviously, this list is ephemeral as some of the actors would age out of the parts or no longer be available.
