2. Bilbo saving the Dwarves from the spiders by himself, furthering his character development.
3. Bard shooting the arrow like it is in the book, after learning of Smaug's weak point from the Thrush.

1) Smaug attacks Lake Town.
2) Getting to see Thranduil's kingdom.
3) Bilbo talking with Smaug.
4) Sting gets a proper naming (because Bilbo is the savior).
5) Bilbo's ascent to and arrival at the tree-tops of Mirkwood.
