Any Firefly fans? Can't Post

I really love the show Firefly. I hate that it's canceled now. My favorite crew member of Serenity is Kaylee, she's a lot of fun

For those of you who've never heard of Firefly, it was about nine crew members and their ship Serenity (And Kaylee is Serenity's engineer) set in the future in the year 2517. It was a space western drama sort of similar to Star Wars, except unlike Star Wars everyone used handheld weapons and there weren't any space creatures. The show was basicaly set when the government improved.

Browncoat here! [In reply to] Can't Post

I almost never buy movies, but I have the Firefly series and Serenity. I almost never re-watch movies but I've watched these many, many times. I even watch the occasional Firefly marathons on the SyFy channel. My daughter gave me a Jane hat. I started watching Castle just because of Nathon Fillion's Firefly references throughout. The clip of Castle dressing in his old costume to be a space cowboy is priceless, but my favorite moment is when he shocks his partner by speaking Chinese in a crisis and, when asked, says he learned it from a TV show.

I miss Firefly so much!

Big damn heroes! [In reply to] Can't Post

I was invited over to friends to watch Serenity when it was a new release, and was a very late comer to the show and eventual movie.
I'd love to see another movie or a reboot of the series, but one of my favorite characters is dead...

Sniff - I miss it! [In reply to] Can't Post

Nathan Fillion has said that if he had unlimited funds, he'd buy the rights and have Joss Whedon make another film. My only consolation is that Nathan will be at Fan Expo in Toronto this August - can't wait!

I'll always have a crush on Kaylee [In reply to] Can't Post

For the series overall, I'm probably the exception in that I thought the series was just okay, but totally loved the movie and have watched it several times. Reavers! *chills* It's fun watching Jayne get scared at the mere mention of Reavers.

Watched it and Serenity last year, Loved both of them. I'm kinda glad there won't be anymore though...would they be able to recapture the magic? Weren't there sequel graphic novel's published?

ĎAs they came to the gates Cirdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and we was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said ĎAll is now ready.í

The series had such unrealized potential [In reply to] Can't Post

The "Out of Gas" episode is simply wonderful.... the interweaving of the three timeframes with various shading to signal the transitions.

The movie was better in that they had time to flesh it out. It truly was an unfortunate decision to cancel this show before it had more that one season .... for pity's sake... Revolution (which I don't think is nearly as good -- wasting its potential rather than increasing it as Firefly did) has had more episodes.

My favorite episode [In reply to] Can't Post

is The Shindig. I really like Kaylee's dress and I also think the fencing event that Mal participated in hold a lot of humor and suspense at the same time. A close second is the pilot episode (Serenity). I don't think I'll ever forgive FOX for giving Firefly a two star rating, to me it had a great cast, action that kept you on the edge of your seat, and a moving soundtrack to go with the scenes. Plus, the different personalities of the nine crew members and how they acted just like a family on and off set.

Out of Gas was the episode where I got fully on board [In reply to] Can't Post

We were binging on it and I liked it well enough but OoG was where I looked around and repeated an oft said (by me) phrase : Joss Whedon is a god.

I really liked the last episode with Jubal, too. Especially if you go from that right into Serenity.

What shows make it and what shows get cut isn't something I think many of us could make sense of. It's been discussed in the comment section of ew.com when popular well loved shows (with that crowd) got cut but shows with lower ratings numbers didn't.

I read a really interesting article in Wired a few months ago and I found it online:
http://www.wired.com/...ire/2013/03/netflix/
Netflix isnít just rebooting Arrested Developmentóitís revolutionizing TV.

There's an interesting graphic at the bottom that compares Most Watched to Most Loved. Even if someone isn't up for reading the article, that graphic is darned interesting.

of course! [In reply to] Can't Post

Wish we could have seen more fully where the series would have gone.

For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars, and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams

Joss Whedon and his show just couldn't catch a fair break. Approved by an outgoing FOX executive, only to be sabotaged by his successor.

That was a great episode for Kaylee [In reply to] Can't Post

She's usually got grease on her and seems content that way, but at the end of the episode, she's got that dress hung up on her wall. Plus there was her naive friendliness to those snotty girls at the ball, assuming that since she's nice, everyone else must be nice too. And then her "mechanic talk with the guys" about her opinions on the best engines and starships out there was both happy and sad: she was fitting in, but not with the girls, or as a girl.

Oh, don't wind me up. I also liked her in "War Stories," where everyone else was able to shoot away at other people (even Simon), and she couldn't bring herself to do it. Normally in a TV show, if the plot says everyone's going to shoot, then even Gandhi would pick up a gun and blast away without hesitation and writers don't think about the inconsistency.

Some Shindig trivia [In reply to] Can't Post

Intially the dance between Inara and Mal was to showcase is "clumsiness/lack of breeding" but after rehearsing the scene it was changed to an episode of revealing Mal's hidden depths/talents.

Jewel Staite says the dress was the hardest thing she's ever worn because modern bathroom stalls are just not made for hoop skirts.
