Although I admit...the #1 tune is one I've never seen or heard...Blush

'"Never laugh at live dragons, Bilbo you fool!" he said to himself, and it became a favourite saying of his later, and passed into a proverb.'

How did they decide? [In reply to] Can't Post

Was it a poll? Just curious.

Also seconding the comment that I've never heard of the number one, though most of the list is fairly recognizable. I wonder if there are other lists that separate based on original scores vs music from another source.... Mozart, Beethoven and other classics are well represented here.

The Mission [In reply to] Can't Post

Great, but little known, movie set during the Spanish Conquistadors' invasion of the Americas. I don't particularly remember the soundtrack (my fave of all time is the soundtrack to "Local Hero", another little known movie set in Ireland - music by Marc Knopfler!), but the movie is great!

Apparently they [In reply to] Can't Post

got their listeners to submit suggestions and more than 4000 suggestions were received. These were then 'narrowed' down to 725 for the final voting list...and nearly 100,000 votes were submitted.

So it was all decided by their listeners Cool

I suspect that, [In reply to] Can't Post

like the lotr's, the full impact in the awards and notations arena will be when all 3 movies are completed for TH where numerous other themes will come to bear*.

*pun intended

''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III

Faerie contains many things besides elves and fays and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are one in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted."

Very cool! A friend of mine.... [In reply to] Can't Post

said that he was listening to a local Classical station the other day when they played one of the Shire theme songs... perhaps he said it was My Dear Frodo or Old Friends (not sure of the precise titles at the moment).
