Another LOTR-themed xkcd comic Can't Post

http://xkcd.com/1218/

For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars, and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams

Frenemy = "friend+enemy" [In reply to] Can't Post

I first heard of 'frenemies' from my tween age daughter and her friends. It means a person who is generally your friend, but they are also a rival. I've always thought of it in the context of kid-speak, so it struck me very funny to use that word in the setting of opening the Doors of Durin, and that the doors begin to open when they use the word for friend, but when they use the word for frenemy, they slam shut. Cute Cool.

also of course, "mellogoth" is correct Sindarin [In reply to] Can't Post

or, at least as correct as "frenemy" is English. Smile
