Hi All

This month we're interviewing the Chairman of the Tolkien Society, Shaun Gunner.

So, ever wondered what they do, what sort of events they host, ask away Smile

One by one they faded, and fell into shadow...

One book to rule them all
One book to find them
One book to bring them all
And in TORn bind them
In the land of TORnadoes...where the brilliant play

Questions that need answers! [In reply to] Can't Post

At what age did you start reading Tolkien (and which book did you read first)?

I know it's a couple of years of yet, but are there any plans to celebrate The Tolkien Society's 50th birthday in 2019?

As always, thank you for organising Kelvarhin. Smile

oooo! This is gonna be good! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll ask my staple question: What cartoons did you watch when you were a child?

Also, what was the most interesting request or question you've ever had for Tolkien-related information or activity?

Thanks so much for doing this, Kel! I love your Q&As :D

Timely guest! [In reply to] Can't Post

1. The Fall of Arthur is not set in Middle-earth (obviously); as such likely it will be weighed against the body of Arthurian Legend more so than Tolkien's other works. Is this unfamiliar territory for the Tolkien Society?

2. The Tolkien Society was established some four decades ago. In that time, at least 6 movies based on Tolkien's works have been made. What impact have movies based on Tolkien's works had on The Tolkien Society over the years?

3. Please share a favourite quote by JRR Tolkien.

Thank you!

A couple more from me: [In reply to] Can't Post

(We recently had a thread asking about places to visit which related to Tolkien's professional and personal lives.) Which 3 places do you (and the Tolkien Society) suggest that all Tolkien fans must visit?

Since your work revolves around Tolkien, does it ever slip in to your personal life - do you have any Tolkien tattoos, a Hobbit hole in your garden, or perhaps book (even film) memorabilia at home?

How many times have you been asked: "Why didn't the eagles fly the Ring to Mordor?" by friends, family and people at the pub?
