Walk to Rivendell and Beyond: There and Back Again Challenge! Can't Post

Where have our wanderings brought us this week?
How far have we traveled?
With whom do we go?

It's so good to have new and returning folks around on the Walk to Rivendell; feel free to join us, for a couple miles or a few hundred, whatever you'd like to contribute!

There and Back Again
Group Challenge Progress

Miles reported last week: 208.9
Cumulative miles: 13844.46
Miles along the journey: 922.96
Miles out of Rivendell: 525.96

Oh, don't we just love camping in icky places... like, say, the side of a mountain that's currently being occupied by a great stinking dragon. Poor Bilbo; he doesn't look too happy about signing on as the expedition's burglar. Crazy

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 18
Cumulative miles: 575
Goal: There and Back Again!

Most of my miles this past week are for landscaping and housecleaning. Even the kids got in on the cleaning action this past Saturday; they were downright helpful! I was able to get eight metal posts pounded into the ground, mostly straight and level, and I'm digging my way through the weeds and mostly-dead raspberries to make way for the new paths (yay, precipitation, making the ground workable!). My hands are in interesting shape, though; I've been removing tiny, insidious raspberry thorns that I pick up from the dead canes all week!

Beamer's progress:
Miles covered this week: 11
Cumulative miles: 553
Goal: Group Challenge

Woot! [In reply to] Can't Post

18 miles - the Spring weather is keeping you busy, huh? That's great!

My mileage this week is 26. And I am "climbing steadily" up into the Misty Mountains from Rivendell. Which is appropriate, as a big chunk of the mileage was a long hike in New Hampshire's Mt. Monadnock my sons and I went on Sunday.

So.... [In reply to] Can't Post

do I report my progress to this post every week?

Before kids, exercising with LOTR meant listening to the soundtrack while I ran.

After kids, exercising with LOTR means having an all out dance party with the little ones to the "Break the Dam Release the River" disco mix form the Lego game.

Only a couple miles. [In reply to] Can't Post

We've been blessed with some rain this week, so I only got 2 miles logged. And one of the mornings that it wasn't raining, the track I use was over run with junior high girls for a track meet. Whoops!

Next month, though, I'll be cracking the whip at cub scout summer day camp for a whole week, so I ought to have some interesting mileage to report. Laugh

Miles this week: 2
Cumulative miles: 689.05 (Wonder what that ".05" is from? Laugh

Another week... [In reply to] Can't Post

Miles covered this week: 47
Cumulative miles: 544.7
Goal: There and Back Again!

A good week, I'd say. Lots of mileage from walking and cycling, actually. I've discovered a new favourite walk through the forest. It just goes on and on for miles, up and down hills, but luckily there are some shortcuts to get back into town. But it still feels far enough from civilisation to be relaxing. I even saw some deer there the other day!

Am I out of the Goblin caves yet? Crazy

That hike sounds wonderful!

Around here, we've had more rain, which has sent me back inside - clay mud is nasty stuff to dig in. But this weekend should be better.

Umm... how'd you get a bicycle up a tree while under attack by wargs?Evil

and more biking... [In reply to] Can't Post

again, lots of biking, walking, and went to the gym 2 days this week. I had a bit of a slow start, because it took a few days to recover from my senior graphic design show (my feet were killing me!). But I got back at it this week, so go me!

at this point in the journey, we're just following the road and the midgewater marshes can be seen off to the north.

Miles covered this week: 20.64
Cumulative miles: 124.2
Goal: There and Back Again!

Howdy Fellow Walkers! [In reply to] Can't Post

There's power in numbers, people... and we're pretty awesome-powerful!!

I've gotten a lot of work done outside in this few days of great weather this past week. I sniggered when you mentioned the thorns; mine are from old rose bushes ;) But it's cold and raining again, so it's back to some TORnesque projects I'm working on.

Gandalf, Bilbo and I have finally gotten way past the marshes and still heading west. It's going to be another month or two, but the end is finally on the horizon!

Thanks lots for keeping us on the Road, Arandiel!! *waves to all* See ya, guys!

Miles covered: 28
Cumulated miles: 1992
Goal: #2 Unexpected Journey Individual Challenge and contributing to the Group :)

Week 19 [In reply to] Can't Post

Sometimes you miss...

but second best is acceptable.

I'm still not walking as much as I would like, but I'm well along south of the Midgewater Marshes. There 's no reason to stop now.

The weather looks good, so I hope to put in a few more miles tomorrow.

Miles this week: 15.32
Miles this Challenge: 121.68
Total Miles: 201.78
Miles to go: 845.32

'There is some woe that lies upon you... Why will you not tell me more?'
'For that woe is past,' said Galadriel; 'and I would take what joy is here left, untroubled by memory. And maybe there is woe enough yet to come, thought still hope may seem bright.'
