Check out the Audi commercial with the two Spocks Can't Post

At about midway through, Leonard Nimoy sings "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," and I think this rendition is better than the original. Sorry I don't have a clicky but it should be easy to find via Youtube.

Pretty darned funny if you ask me. Spock was/is my favourite Star Trek character.....too bad he wasn't in Star Wars...

What's the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?"

Same - and it proves [In reply to] Can't Post

once more the cliche about 'old age and cunning beats youth and enthusiasm every time'. :D

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

...the 'star' at the end is the car, not the person. I found this at USA Today:

And watch for the cameo at the end by Audi's driverless car - the autonomous TTS that climbed Pikes Peak.

Great ad.

Leonard Nimoy is such a wonderful gent [In reply to] Can't Post

His career doesn't reflect a lot of chances to be funny. I love anybody who has the grace to willingly make fun of themself. And am I misremembering or was he at one time somehow connected to playing the role of Gandalf?

If there were rumors about him playing Gandalf... [In reply to] Can't Post

...it didn't make it into a TORn News Article. That's not to say that it wasn't rumored. My sense from researching the early days on TORn is there was lots of buzz about rumors in the various social communication outlets on the site but only some made it to a News Article. But, TORn did report on some pretty vague rumors so it is a good measure of something.

To see a list of all the people who made it into a TORn News Article in regards to a credited role in LOTR, see this index page at the TORn Mathom-house history wiki:
http://mathom-house.net/...TRCast-CreditedRoles

(and this is assumed you were talking about Jackson's movies and not some other presentation of the story like the radio dramas or something)

Have you read this as confirmed? I mean... it could be him, I suppose, but we see so little of him I can't identify him (and I know who he is from St. Elsewhere). And I haven't found any articles that identify him as the person in the commercial.

Just my opinion. [In reply to] Can't Post

That was not my perception of the ad. To me, it seemed we had a clear view of the man. I saw the video once, and when I saw the man in question exit his car and walk into the building, I immediately recognized him as Christopher Pike from J. J. Abrams' "Star Trek" film. (Now I know the actor's name... ).

I could of course be wrong! Just got my first pair of glasses yesterday...

I love the Bilbo Baggins shoutout. I think my mom owns that album.

Before kids, exercising with LOTR meant listening to the soundtrack while I ran.

After kids, exercising with LOTR means having an all out dance party with the little ones to the "Break the Dam Release the River" disco mix form the Lego game.
