You can bet that [In reply to] Can't Post

if Peter Jackson himself doesn't see it, one of his representatives will; as well as the film companies and several entertainment/news organizations. TORn has been quoted and visited by several interested parties ever since the news broke. :)

It's a great poll, and I'm sure it'll find its way to Jackson, MGM and New Line.

Trust him... The Hobbit is coming!

It might be interesting to have someone else do it though [In reply to] Can't Post

We might then get proper looking wargs rather than mutant hyaenas.

Leave that poll up for a while! :-) [In reply to] Can't Post

In that case, I'd suggest that poll should stay up on the site for a while. More chance for the appropriate parties to see it, and also a much larger number of votes might be collected. :-D

Proper-looking Wargs [In reply to] Can't Post

Now why does this remind me of the "Klingon problem" from Star Trek? You know, how the Klingons looked one way in The Original Series (think William Campbell in ridiculous makeup), and completely different in the movies and subsequent films (think ... err ... William Campbell in even more ridiculous makeup). For those in the know, the internal explanation usually given is something called the Augment Virus. The external explanation is budget, budget, budget. Which obviously won't be a problem for New Line.

I think that, for good or ill, we should just hope for some consistency. Crazy

Looks aside, their movement was modeled [In reply to] Can't Post

on that of a Shetland pony, apparently -- which would explain why they move so strangely! Shetland ponies move like little stunted dwarf things, not with the lithe, fluid (and therefore scary, as opposed to comical) movement you'd expect from a carnivore. Seems like a strange choice to me.

They can be quite mean [In reply to] Can't Post

not to mention they're experts at breaking out, but why they would use their movements is past me. They could have least have taken Icelandic horses to add some odd gaits.

Well [In reply to] Can't Post

The problem was that puttng riders on wargs whose gaits were modeled on wolves just didn't work at all.

The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”
