I'm shouting at y'all as I run out the door. It's gray, damp, and (relatively) chilly, and the Gaffer and I thought we'd head to one of our favorite Asian spots for lunch and run some errands while we're out. So a quick *huggles*, gramma, a big Welcome Back to Darkstone, and greetings and felicitations all around on this most auspicious of days *Rushes off humming "Flaming Red Hair", which isn't quite what I have on my head---more like embers of red hair....*

I have the keys to the TORn Mathom-house today -- we're getting ready to open the doors for tours and fun later today! So, can you give me a cup of coffee to go? I am on my way over there now to tidy up the Mathom-house before we put the "open" sign out. Gramma, please let folks now that if they stop back in a few hours they'll find a Welcome Mat post from me telling them all about the Mathom-house and what they can expect to see there today! Delighted to have you on duty today -- Happy Founders Day!

Might I have a fill-up of your finest caffein-laden coffee, please, gramma? With a shot of Bailey's and miruvor, if you have them! In between working on all the puzzles here, I'll be visiting my Dad on Saturday (my Texas brother is visiting him this weekend);and the community band is starting its Spring/Summer series, so I've been writing up short introductions for the pieces to read for them on Sunday. But it's supposed to be beautiful outside, I hope I can get in a walk in the woods! Has the snow all disappeared from your area, gramma?

Not sure if it's for me or for the doctor at the rehab center, though. :P The plan was for mom to be in rehab until next Friday. That would still be cutting it close because we wouldn't be able to have the assisted living situation worked out until later next week, at the absolute earliest. Then yesterday, the doctor decides mom is finished and that she's going home tomorrow. They have not discussed any of this with us. the therapists who have actually been working with her were the ones who decided she needed the extra days. The doc, who saw mom once and basically did nothing but get mad at her for asking questions, apparently doesn't give a crap what the therapists think. My sister is trying to call and ask what the &^%$ they're doing, but I'm not sure if she's reached anyone yet. As if the stress wasn't already destroying my sleep and giving me an ulcer and leaving me in tears multiple times a day.

Well, it seems to finally be starting to ease toward proper Spring temperatures here, so I think I'll finally have a Spring Usual (actually, a celebratory one for the Anniversary!), please. :) Thanks to everyone who has created, maintained, and just been involved in this great community for all these years!

It already looks amazing. Those games, I'm going to dive in after this. And this Fiesta also starts my holiday!!! An entire week off from work, yeah!!! There is still homework to do, but no work. Looking forward to sleeping in, and somewhere in this week there has to be a pyjama-day. Not getting dressed and just hanging around the entire day, ah, what a bliss. And weather is co-operating very well with my plans. We had such wonderful weather Wednesday and Thursday. And today (and the forecast for the next week), grey and cold . Not fair! So I'll have a nice cup of coffee, and for the festivities, add something yummie to it. Great weekend to all!

It looks like TORn is alive 'n kickin' with much energy thank you for your part. I am thankful and happy for all of yous guys. I cannot believe how all the years have flown by. Much good times too. Remember the moots? The most important thing now is to speak from the heart thanking the 'fabulous four' or perhaps the 'fabled four' and the entourage of great admins near and far for everything past and present for what this house has come to be, adding the Mathom House too without a doubt thank you Magpie for that of course. So gramma i have 'work' to do trying to keep up with sil jr who is at Penn State for a sprint relay (good luck huh?lol). I am out for a bike (pedal) ride to get these old legs in shape for the summer, this beautiful spring day with birds a'chirping, so please fill my water botttles with some gatorade and wish me luck. I will be back to catch all later. Cheers to all!!!
''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III Faerie contains many things besides elves and fays and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are one in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted." — J.R.R. In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

It's a great day for all, but we even have sunshine and warm breezes today! Not that it will last, we are getting some rain tomorrow, but I have done some work in the garden and even planted some early veggies. The first batch of turkey chicks has hatched, so the other two will not be far behind. Now that the hens are more experienced, maybe more will survive this year than last. Had a really late night at my Pathfinders game last night -- didn't get home until after midnight, which if you know me is w-a-a-y out of my comfort zone. We have a great group and we spent a lot of time laughing. Still trying to get up to speed on the complexity and beginning to commit some things to memory. Gramma, some ginger tea would be a treat, thanks. Happy Founders' Day and happy weekend, everyone.

You know how your house is a mess in the midst of a big clean-up?

That's mine right now. My kitchen island is holding a crystal light fixture that I've assembled, but need to get an electrician to hang. In order to keep the fixture upright, I've stacked about 40 cookbooks (yes, I have 40 cookbooks - probably several dozen more) in two piles, with the light fixture suspended between the two piles, held in place wth small clamps. I've just moved the entire contents of my deck inside, in anticipation of the deck wash and stain that's happening this week. I still have to bring in my barbecue, which I'll do Sunday night, because it will take up a substantial amount of room in my den. The furniture is scattered about the house, including a settee that's in the hallway. I have to edge around when I walk to and fro, but it won't fit anywhere else. I have two soon-to-be-stained doors propped agains the wall in my den. Because the deck washing/staining, I'm scrambling to get the final sanding done this weekend, and hopefully the staining also. I don't think I'll get the polyurethane since that needs time to dry. I'll have to put down drop cloths and put that on after the deck is done. I have a garbage bag on the kitchen floor that's full of food jars and cans that expired years ago. I cleaned out the corners of my kitchen cupboards, tossing all the stuff that's expired. I hope to clear out the bathroom storage and toss the old items, adding to the garbage bag as long as I can lift it to take it to the garbage. On top of all this, I need to clean my house, because the dust bunnies are reproducing, but with everything in the house, I want to wait until I take care of all these projects. So the earliest I can clean is next weekend. So right now, I'm living in a very messy house. Good news is that it's going to look great after I'm finished, but right now it's hard to imagine. Good news also, that we're supposed to have great weather this weekend. The floodwaters are receding, and Spring might actually arrive. . And final bit of good news, my refinancing closed last week, so my finances look a lot better. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'll take some champagne to get me through this mess!

Spent a gorgeous hour at the local arboretum where my elfling was having an Arbor Day field trip. It was hard to come back to work when I could have stayed and planted trees, learned about sundials, and enjoyed the sunshine. One of the highlights was when the kids were using arborist harnesses to climb up into trees. My elfling climbed up quickly, got down, ran over and said "that was fun, but I could have climbed it faster without the harness" which was probably true, and made me proud. Maybe we should build a flet. So I'll raise a glass of miruvoir to TORN and the trees. Happy Founders Day all!
Before kids, exercising with LOTR meant listening to the soundtrack while I ran. After kids, exercising with LOTR means having an all out dance party with the little ones to the "Break the Dam Release the River" disco mix form the Lego game.

It's too crazy to think that summer is right on our doorstep (in my parts, leastways). I'm playing my weekends by ear these days. Tonight I've got dinner with my family - really looking forward to that. I'm also helping out with my friend's film shoot here in town (I dwell amidst artists of variable nature, me being one of them ). I'm also coming to the end of the James Bond movies. My mom and I have been watching through all of them over the past couple months, and this weekend we're covering Daniel Craig, so that should be fun. Aside from that, I don't have much else planned, but it's shaping up to be a decent weekend already. Happy Founders Day!
