**Founders Day Theme Verse/Song Challenge**
|
Can't Post

Calling all creative minds and aspiring lyricists and anyone with a bit of time for fun today. Here's your chance to suggest a Theme Song or Poem for Founders Day. To help get you inspired, here's one from DanielB, which he posted yesterday and which got us thinking about this challenge: TheOneRing.net goes ever on and on Originating from 4 Founders where it began Now far ahead the site has gone And we must celebrate, if we can. Providing fans with Tolkien news Until the Last Battle and Day of Doom Where many friends and strangers meet And wither then? Only the PTB can say. Can you top that? Put your singing cap on and give it your best shot!

They're nerdy and they're geeky, knowledgeable and sneaky! They're all together cheeky, the Pow-er-ers That Be! Their site is Tolkien-heaven, some people know the Elven (-ish!) They really like that Beren!, the power-er-ers that be! (spoken: TORn, Firstborn, RedHorn!) So get those books and discs out, you'll have a blast there's no doubt, we're gonna give a shout out to the Power-ers That Be!

Just sit right back and you'll hear a Tale A Tale of a fan-made site That started from a few great minds And grew to quite a height. Corvar was a mighty computer man Tehanu a reporter brave and sure With Calisuri and Xoanan they registered a domain name today And it's lasted 14 years...14 years. The Internet started getting rough The onering website was tossed If not for the courage of Altaira The message boards would have been lost The onering.net set out on this Uncharted fandom course With Tolkien news and great events The purists and their books The movie fans and the rest Are here on theonering,net Well, I don't think I'll give up my day job...but that was fun. Thanks for the chance to put my knowledge of Gilligan's Island to some use!

This is something I put together years ago: Addicted to tOR.N (sung to Addicted to Love, by Robert Palmer) Your PC’s on; the screen is lit It’s time to take a hit Your palms sweat, your fingers shake You click your mouse while you quake You can't sleep, you can't eat There's no doubt, you're in deep You read all night, you post all day Fiesta comes, you shout ‘Hooray!’ Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the board, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you’d sell your firstborn, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to tOR.N. You see a post, and you will read You must upgrade your connect speed The pages load, you type replies You click refresh, and rub your eyes—your bloodshot eyes! You can't be saved Another post is all you crave If there's a ‘psst’ left for you You’ll read it, and others’ too! Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the board, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you’d sell your firstborn, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Your PC’s on; the screen is lit It’s time to take a hit Your mouse clicks; your fingers type You bought in to all the hype. Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the board, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you’d sell your firstborn, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Might as well face it, you're addicted to tOR.N Inferno.
====================== Good night, tOR.Nados. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely delete you in the morning. ======================

The Girl from West New Zealand

Ode to Tehanu, to the tune of The Girl from Ipanema Small but mighty and young and lovely, The girl from West New Zealand went walking And without passes, she breached the Deeping Wallll… While on set she saw a bunch of stuff She wanted to share across the universe Yes without passes, she'd be a spy for us allll…” But oh, the set-nazis they caught her - Seemed like her foray was over, Yes, she was thrown out on her arse, But as wonders should ever increase, They invited her back on release… Small but mighty and young and lovely, The girl from West New Zealand went spying And with her passes, she gathered news for us geeks… But oh, how to share the news widely? She'd need a partner in cri-ime, So Xo lent his web skills gladly, And each day when she was on the set, Xoanon put it all on the net… Small but mighty and young and lovely, The girl from West New Zealand went walking Used her passes to spy on Lord of the Rings… To share with the world… On theonering dot net… She will ever remain… A fan who made good… She's Tehanu…

This is a slight update from my contribution for Founder’s Day of last year. ON TORn Well, it dawned on Xoanon and Tehanu who felt it, They knew that the films would be so hot, so they melded Their efforts with two more Calusuri and Corvar made four When the rumors done come out they marked 'em the fastest Why's Arwen at the Deep? I think this needs intervention. They kept an eye on every turn And would post news as they learned some, And I don't hesitate, I know I know There's Tolkien news On TORn! Well, open up your mind, discuss with me The L-O-T-R films, and the next three, Talk about the books where we find love love love, Listen to the soundtrack of the movies, Enya’s May it Be, Howard’s haunting melodies, It’s Ol' Peter Jackson’s work that I love love love love Love! So I don’t hesitate, no more, I know I cannot wait, I’m sure There’s a need to congregate On message boards This is my fate On TORn! Doo da doo doo-cha doo’cha doo do 'n' dooo, Don’t cha want chat on, What’s your thought on bunny sled, What’s that on Raddy’s head? Soo de bop be pwom puh pwom Whoaah Whoaah, whoa wo wo wo wo haha! Hmmm-mmm-mmm! I been spending way too long waiting for the latest trailer And bending backwards just to know if Tauriel's the jailer The games fill up the glass Of my screen, like Scenes from the Hat Like our Captions, TIME, B-S, Walks, no better series, Like Middle-Earth Conspiracy for posting witty theories, That's what we aim to do Our playing is our virtue And I don't hesitate no more, no more I check our message board (I don't hesitate) Well, open up your mind, discuss with me (no more, no more) The adaptation films, even Bakshi (I log right in) Log onto the boards and you'll find (On TORn) this site is yours (I need to congregate) I need to I need to (on message boards) I need to congregate (This is my fate) On the message boards, this is this is this is my fate (On TORn) On TORn……nahhh! Brrrap op um day doo doo doocha doot dooden ooh on TORn, ooh on TORn baby just believe this site is yours [fade out] This was a parody of Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours
A bag is like a hole that you can carry with you. http://newboards.theonering.net/...forum_view_expanded;

I was watching out for your tidbit for this year! Awesome as always! (What's that on Raddy's head? Timeless.)
Manwe, when asked a simple "Yes" or "No" question, contemplated, and responded "the middle one."

The Girl from Ipanema puts me in mind of something unusual I did once; it wasn't today, or even recently... years ago I had occasion to go to an after hours club (aka a booze can) that catered to Toronto film workers. There was a tight jazz ensemble playing that night and there was a really good vibe in the place. When they struck up The Girl from Ipanema I got on stage and provided the vocals... it went over quite well by all accounts. (And no I hadn't been drinking.)

But the weekend isn't over yet! Before by super busy weekend, I've been trying to get this poem to work, based on Tolkien's original. I sit on the TORn forum and think of all that I have seen, of pant pun posts and screencaps discussions, in threads that have been; Of First Agers and newbies in threads that there were, with the PTB overlooking us I sit on the TORn forum and think of how the site will be When the Hobbit films are all released, and no more Tolkien films we will see. For still there are so many threads, that I have never seen, in every board, in every user, there is a discussion there I sit on the TORn forum and think of users long ago, And users who will join a forum, that I shall never know But all the while I sit and think, of the fun we had before, I listen for returning feet, and voices on the boards. I sit on the TORn forum, and thank the Four Founders, for all that I have seen. Feel free to improve! It needs a lot of work!
