**Founders Day - The Memories**
|

It goes without saying that today plays host to a party of special magnificence, for it marks the anniversary of TORn's birth, the product of four contributors. More here. Equally magnificent, it's a day that reminds all of us why we come here day after day... year after year. Over fourteen years we have all shared in Tolkien topics, discussions, hype, and even every day socializing. Here on these boards each of us have found fellowship near and far, so much that we are practically a second family (or more) to one another. Fourteen years is a long time, certainly filled with memories and rejoice. It is for that reason that I invite you to give thanks to our founders - Corvar, Xoanon, Tehanu and Calisuri - and share any TORn-distinct memories you've had from your time here. As it has become tradition now, here is a slideshow I had put together for the 12th TORniversary to help get the juices flowing: Founders Day Slideshow. Here's to our Founders! Thank you all for many splendid years I've enjoyed here on TORn, and the many more yet to come.

I just want to say thanks for creating such a wonderful site. I've enjoyed TORn for a very long time getting news and info about a subject matter that means a lot as well as sharing that love with others. There is no more caring a group of people than those that started this place and have helped push it forward over the last 14 years. I love being a part of this place and again am so thankful you all started this wonderful little place in what is our corner of Middle-earth.

I discovered this site about 13 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here over the years. I most enjoy the humor and all the passionate and wonderful fans from around the world. This place has gotten me through goods times and bad and it's members are more like family than friends.

I found you guys after the Hobbit AUJ came out and LotR was in the media a little more. I first read LotR last summer, but lacked other geeks like me to share it with! I love HOF and chatting on Barliman's, and all the great articles you guys post! Thank You!

This place has gotten me through goods times and bad and it's members are more like family than friends. But love every day I spend here. This is my go-to place after a long day. TORn and a cup of tea and all is right with the world. Ditto on the family comment.

The thing I remember most was all that build up for the ROTK Oscar night. I took off from work and camped out in front of the TV. I wrote many *impassioned* posts about ROTK simply NEEDING to win...floated the idea of Oscar-napping as a last resort...and felt like such community knowing we were all watching that triumphant night together. A great, great memory. Thanks to all, and especially to our Founding Ringers!
Manwe, when asked a simple "Yes" or "No" question, contemplated, and responded "the middle one."

I saw a lot of familiar faces that made me smile...thanks for posting again and you picked the perfect day for this (ha!) I have not had the chance to meet many TORN-folk in person, but from the few I have met I can say they are as nice in 3-D as they are on a computer screen!

to the founders, and all the gardeners along the way. cheers -- .
aka. fili orc-enshield +++++++++++++++++++ the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield." this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel

Your video tribute captures so much of what I love about TORn. The Fellowship, the Fun, the Adventure! I've experienced so much since I came to TORn in 2002 that I know I never would have had before. The travel so join with sibbies... the Oscars in Hollywood, Pasadena, Indianapolis, Peoria, Chicago, Columbus, Toronto, San Diego, Atlanta, Wellington, and many more. But it's the people I've met and call my friends that has enriched my life so much. I am so grateful to our Founders for giving us TORn. I know it wasn't their intention to have it become the community it has, but that's what makes this all the better. It's grown organically because of the wonderful people who created it and the incredible people who populate it. Fantastic! DragonCon Party But TORn has also inspired me to be more creative myself. I write, draw, paint, and construct like never before. I've had more fun since I came here in 2002 than all the years before! Thank you TORn for the wonderfulness of yourself, and thank you One Ringer for an incredible Party! Cheers!
3rd draft of TH:AUJ Geeky Observation List - updated for DVD release!!! "There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West." I'm SO HAPPY these new films take me back to that magical world!! TIME Google Calendar TORn's Geeky Observations Lists (updated soon)
