Casting for extra footage- Hobbit
|

Hi guys! I'm new to this site so... Hello! I heard that pick-ups and extra footage of The Hobbit will be shot in NZ from May.... and I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about it? I'm in NZ now with a work permit, match the spec for an Elf, archery trained, studied acting.... I know I missed the boat on previous castings, but if there's even an ounce of hobbity hope left, please might someone point me in the right direction? Thank you. x

here:http://www.trademe.co.nz/...ey=109237&page=6 Jobs on Trademe.nz under "other" category. You can specify 'Jobs anywhere in NZ' or 'Wellington', which is where the last open casting call was announced and the likely location if more extras are needed. If you are an actor and have photos, you could contact one of the local talent agencies, who, I understand, are contacted first before an open call. Welcome to TORn, and "break a leg".

You can imagine there's gonna be a huge call for extras at some point in the next few weeks.

A lot of people are self taping (auditions) these days

Find out who is handling casting... casting directors usually operate as a business in their own right and therefore are surprisingly easy to contact. The real challenge is timing... casting, especially for principle roles usually happens very early on, way before shooting (which for TH is almost upon us again). On the other hand, sometimes casting for background actors is ongoing depending on the scene shooting schedule. Since time is of the essence, look around the web for tips on how to self tape an audition rather than waiting for an open call. Send it to the appropriate casting director or their associates. If you can't track down details about the casting director for The Hobbit, you probably aren't trying hard enough... Once you've sent your demo reel, etc, to the casting director, resist the urge to pester them. If they like what they see, and have a spot for you, they will be in touch.

Thank you soooo much! :) Do you suppose this is for dwarves/hobbits, as it's 3foot7 ltd. I wonder if it's more the dwarf option, as they don't specify height... Hmmmm. Oh heck, let's send my photos in anyway, what have I got to lose? :) Fingers crossed! (And thank you Lissuin!) :)
