Results from Phase 1 of The Hobbit Audience Project now available! Can't Post

Dear TORN members,
First, a sincere ‘thank you’ to those who so generously took the time and energy to respond to the two surveys we have so far conducted on Peter Jackson’s feature film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I’m very pleased to report that a summary of the preliminary results from the first phase of our project, which looked at people’s hopes, concerns and expectations of the film prior to its international release, is now available online here, along with an overview of the project's focus and aims:

Our main reception study, which explores global reactions to the film following its international release, is ongoing, and many of you have already participated in this - thank you! If you haven’t yet shared your thoughts in The Hobbit Audience Project and would like to do so, you can complete the English language version of the survey here: http://flashq.rcc.ryerson.ca/Hobbit/
I'm also very pleased to announce that we now have other language versions of the survey available online. If you know of groups or individuals who may prefer to complete the survey in their native tongue, please feel free to pass on the URL to the following versions:

In Catalan - http://qsortonline.com/qsort/Hobbit-SC/
In French – http://qsortonline.com/qsort/Hobbit-FR/

So, as I suspected [In reply to] Can't Post

It's the usual 10% rule in play with regards to people who were violently opposed to seeing the film. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for posting the results... [In reply to] Can't Post

... and I'm looking forward to the stage two findings.
By the way, I'm wondering where phase 1 of the study was announced / linked /advertised - was it on Tolkien fansites only, or other sites as well? If the former, that would explain for me the low percentage of people wishing to see the film because of promo materials and media coverage. :)

"A journalist once asked me what I would like my epitaph to be and I said I think I would like it to be 'He did very little harm'. And that's not easy. Most people seem to me to do a great deal of harm. If I could be remembered as having done very little, that would suit me." ~ Paul Eddington

recruitment [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi dik-dik,

We promoted the survey on a wide range of websites, including Tolkien fansites but also a diverse range of facebook groups and general film discussion boards. However it seems clear that Tolkien/LOTRs fans were more highly motivated to participate, so your point is quite valid, thank you :)
