Pretty straight-forward, what do you think will be the most epic scene/scenes in DoS and TABA? By epic i don't mean meaningful and/or sad scenes, but moments that give you shivers down your spine. For example Charge of the Rohirrim or when the Ents go to war in LOTR. AND: What are your favourite "epic" scenes from AUJ?

I'm sure the arrival of the eagles to the Bo5A will be as beautiful as their entrances have been previously. And I'm also hoping for some epicness from the arrival of Dain and his dwarves. Probably also the destruction of Dol Guldur, if done right.

The Dragon and the scenes he is in will be pretty memorable, that is certain. Whether I will enjoy PJ's rendition of him remains to be seen... The Battle of Dol Guldur should be something pretty special. To be honest I'm more excited about seeing this than the actual story told in The Hobbit (i.e. Bilbo's journey). However, the "Gandalf doll" talk has me more than a little concerned. My favourite "epic" scene from AUJ: I did love the Goblin chase sequence-in particular when Gandalf rescues the Dwarves. I was just so glad to see Gandalf at his best using powerful magic.

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit" 5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck 4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot 3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan 2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate 1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

Bilbo naming Sting ("I will give you a name, and I shall call you Sting"). When Bilbo first meets Smaug ("to say that Bilbo's breath was taken away is no description at all"). The Fall of Smaug ("With a shriek that deafened men, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned over and crashed down from on high in ruin...full on the town he fell"). The arrival of Beorn in the Battle of Five Armies ("In that last hour Beorn himself had appeared...he came alone, and in bear's shape; and he seemed to have grown almost to giant-size in his wrath"). My favorite epic scene in AUJ, the one that really gave me shivers down my spine and goosebumps, is Riddles in the Dark.
'"Never laugh at live dragons, Bilbo you fool!" he said to himself, and it became a favourite saying of his later, and passed into a proverb.'

Bilbo meets Smaug (I am looking forward to this scene more than any scene in all the movies!) Smaug's end. arrival of Throin and Co. at BOFA ( I can bet anything in the worl that PJ would give some sort of speech for Thorin which would be a bit like Theoden's) Arrival of Beorn at BOFA AUJ' s epic scenes: I found Radagast's exploration in Dol Guldur pretty chilling. (But I'd love to see an improved Necromancer) Eagles saving the dwarves My fav of all will be Riddles (Just look at my pic) Oh, and the most dumbest scene from AUJ which was meant to be epic: Thorin rushing towards Azog while a recycled Nazgul-theme rises and then he runs with an epic gaze in his eyes!!!! He's gonna do it! He'll kill Azog for suuure! CLASH! Thorin lies on the ground out of his wits. Meh...(That scene actually had me laughing out loud!)
I am the Grandson of Samwise Gamgee. My grandpa loved Frodo uncle and Frodo uncle loved his pet, Smeagol. So I am named Smeagol Bagginsess! Ain't I cute?

There was a report a few months ago, or an interview with McKellen, where he said Cate Blanchett had to carry a doll-double of him, so supposedly Gandalf will get seriously injured and Galadriel will carry him off.

Can't say for certain right now, as I don't know how the scenes will play out and if they'll give me goosebumps. But if they play out like any of these scenes in AUJ then they'll be good for me: -Troll fight scene (right when Kili enters and the music kicks in... love it) -Warg chase (especially when Thorin yells "Hold your ground!") -Radagast at Dol Guldur -Dwarves leaving Rivendell and the MM theme kicks in -The whole Goblin-town/Riddles in the Dark sequence -Final battle with Azog

Smaug falling to Bard's arrow is obvious. I also think Galadriel showing up and decimating Dol Guildur will be insanely epic. I'd also like to see an epic charge of Dain and the Dwarfs of the Iron Hills during The BO5A. Oh, and Beorn tearing Bolg to shreds. As far as AUJ goes: 1. Thorin standing up to Azog at the Battle of Azanulbizar. 2. Gandalf showing up at Goblin Town. 3. Thorin facing down Azog (again), Eagles showing up to save the day. 4. Gandalf splitting the rock in half, "The dawn will take you all!" 5. Montage of the Dwarfs walking towards the Misty Mountains.

I would say the spiders, the barrel scene, the destruction of Dol Guldur, and the entire BOFA. My favorite epic scenes in AUJ would have to be Kili saving Bilbo from the trolls, the escape from Goblin town, and just after the dwarves leave Rivendell, when they’re walking over the mountains while the Misty Mountains theme is gloriously playing.

Beorn's arrival at BOFA, can't wait to seehim charging through Goblin ranks to get to Thorin's body! Also when Smaug rages at being unable to find Bilbo and the Dwarve's and sets the mountainside ablaze with his wrath before heading off towards Lake-town. In AUJ my favourite "epic" scenes, which made the hair stand on my neck, were: -The dwarves assault on the trolls after Bilbo is thrown onto of Kili. When the music kicks in it was awesome! -Gandalf's "Take up arms!" after his epic arrival gave me epic chills -The Eagles.......enough said.

A few months back there was an article about the things we'd see in the next two Hobbit movies. Here's the point regarding Gandalf. There was some interesting new information in addition to this so it might be worthwhile going through the whole list. Note that a lot if it seems to be speculation mixed in with the facts, so not everything might be accurate.

Some of my most anticipated scenes

-Smaug heading out to Laketown after being infuriated with Bilbo's notion of "revenge" -Smaug attacking Laketown -Beorn arriving at the BOFA (i think it will be as awe-inspiring as Gandalf's arrival at Helm's Deep) -The destruction of Dol Guldur (i'm not 100% sure if this will be in the movies, but most people say so) -The moment at the BOFA where the dwarves break out of their mountain in order to fight (maybe we will hear a choir version of the Misty Mountains theme here? Similar to how we got a choir version of the Fellowship theme in the "For Frodo" scene in ROTK) I'm sure i'm forgetting some, but these are definately my most anticipated scenes in terms of epicness.

I'm most looking forward to any sort of meeting between Sauron and the Nazgul and the White Counsel. Perhaps even some dialogue between the two sides. I get chills just thinking about it. Other epic scenes: -Mirkwood Elf/orc action has possibilities -Smaug Convo -BoFA -Seeing Laketown and Dale My most epic scenes in AUJ: -EREBOR DUH! -Gandalf and Bilbo meeting -Misty Mountains song -Goblin chase -Azog intro (Battle of Azablahblah or whatever its called) -the small glimpse of Dol Guldur we got

In AUJ my favourite epic scenes included - the end of Azanulbizar, when Thorin rallies the Dwarves - at Rivendell, when Thorin asks Elrond 'Can you read them?' And the the scene cuts to the waterfall (the music there gives me the shivers) - when Bilbo contemplates killing Gollum What I am looking forward to is the moment the Dwarves find and open the door into the Lonely Mountain (I think this could be very nicely done with some spine-tingling music).

AUJ: Bilbo contemplating whether to kill Gollum or not. Bilbo/Gandalf, Bilbo/Gollum and Frodo/Gandalf build such a beautiful scene-trilogy of Tolkien's theme of mercy together that it is beyond beautiful imho. DoS: Bilbo/Smaug and potentially Dol Guldur. TABA: Smaug's fall, Beorn's and Eagles' arrival at Bot5A and THE sad scene to end all sad scenes ;)

Difficult to say what I am most looking forward to seeing to in terms of 'epic' moments before seeing the films, but certainly they will involve Beorn, Thorin, Smaug and perhaps the Necromancer. I agree with the below when it comes to AUJ:
1. Thorin standing up to Azog at the Battle of Azanulbizar (in fact the whole of that battle). 2. Gandalf showing up at Goblin Town. 3. Thorin facing down Azog (again), Eagles showing up to save the day. 4. Montage of the Dwarfs walking towards the Misty Mountains (I loved the music accompanying this – it is thrilling). Would also add Thorin's whole stance before/while being chased by the Warg riders. And of course the whole Erebor sequence.
