Thrain and Young Thrain Can't Post

Hey, I just spotted something in the Credits to AUJ.

Two actors are credited as Thrain; Mike Mizrahi (who was original cast as Thrain) is credited as Thrain, and Thomas Robins (who plays Deagol) is credited as young Thrain.

Does anyone know what this is about?

I assume young Thrain is from the Erebor flashbacks, and the other is from the cut scenes of Gandalf finding Thrain in Dol Guldur?

"Durin's Heir you may be, but even with one eye you should see clearer. If this is victory, then our hands are too small to hold it. We will not enter Khazad-dum. You will not enter Khazad-dum. I have looked through the shadow of the Gate. Beyond the shadow it waits for you still: Durin’s Bane. The world must change and some other power than ours must come before Durin’s Folk walk again in Moria.”

Yeah, possible [In reply to] Can't Post

I am expecting to see Thráin and Gandalf in Dol Guldur.

But they used another actor for Thráin in that part? Oh

More Interesting... [In reply to] Can't Post

Thomas Robinson as Young Thrain is only credited in AUJ but not in DOS (according to IMDB). But Mike Mizarhi (old Thrain) is credited for both films; why is that? I don't remember old Thrain in AUJ. Does this mean there will be no young Thrain in DOS (so no flashback to explain where Gandalf got the key).

One possible reason is that maybe Gandalf just says it in the Dol Guldur scene 'I fulfilled my promise to give your son Throin the key as you asked!' or something like that...

I wouldn't go by IMDB [In reply to] Can't Post

necessarily, I believe it was at Hobbitcon that some people were told we would see Gandalf and Thrain at some point. IMDB could just be behind on details orrrr maybe they don't have that info yet. Smile

True... [In reply to] Can't Post

True, but what if the scene they were referring is when Gandalf meets mad old Thrain at Dol Guldur, and not the flashback where Thrain gave Gandalf the key and map?

That could be as well [In reply to] Can't Post

I guess we'll have to wait for a trailer or word from PJ & co themselves! Maybe when Gandalf goes to Dol Guldur and finds the tombs is when he has a flashback or something like that.
