Thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

The first link says everything I've been saying since I first saw AUJ. Although this author obviously hasn't been to this message board if he think people aren't swooning over Thorin, Fili and KIli.

dwarf swooning [In reply to] Can't Post

"Although this author obviously hasn't been to this message board if he think people aren't swooning over Thorin, Fili and Kili."

Or any place on the internet related to the Hobbit. 90% of the comments will be about Thorin, Fili, and Kili whether or not they're in the picture, article, or video being posted.Laugh

In fact yesterday Aidan Turner's tumblr tag was hit with major spammage and Richard Armitage's was as well, apparently(similar ID's--random letters and numbers--seemingly linking to Hobbit and actor related interviews/scenes, click on the seemingly legitimate video image and get porn instead:) . That usually only happens if the spammers think they are going to be inconveniencing a large number of people.

So I guess they've definitely arrived. LOL

No swooning? [In reply to] Can't Post

That was a headscratcher. And said swooning is certainly not just confined to this board! It's all over the internet. And off the internet, too. I've got RL friends who are happy to share in a bit of swooning.

I think [In reply to] Can't Post

Mr Rateliff just isn't hanging out in the right places. LOL

On ONTD they have had "Hobbit Party Posts" (basically it's a phenomenon that happens with certain films, usually containing many hot me...fine actors...wherein an article or interview is posted, fans descend upon the post and spend most of their time posting pics, screencaps, gifs of the actors, it happened with The Avengers last summer for example as well). Those posts can contain thousands of comments, a couple of times up to it even made it to 10000 comments which is the limit, most of which involve "swooning" of some sort. LOL Most centered on Richard, Aidan, Lee, Dean and Luke, - though there is someone for everyone, even Bifur and Ori, plus some play for old favorites like Viggo or the actor who played Haldir. :) And that's a general entertainment/gossip Livejournal. :)

It is certainly hard to imagine [In reply to] Can't Post

watching the Star Wars movies in story order and for what was the original first movie to have anything like the same effect being the fourth movie viewed as it has being the first one viewed.

I feel like the Middle Earth series is going to work much better in story order although we won't really know until we see all of them I guess.

I just stick with the original trilogy. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm no Star Wars Purist, and there is some good stuff in the prequel trilogy (especially the last one), but for the most part they're just a boring mess, and they're best left unwatched. The original movies is enough Star Wars for me. Though i would be interested in seeing Topher Grace's edit of the three prequels into one supposedly pretty good film. That might be worth it.

The thing that's going to save TH and LotR is that they already existed as two stories written in that order. They already worked as one long story. So as long as PJ & Co. don't mess that advantage up by overemphasizing things like the importance of the ring, the real story of the Necromancer, or Saruman's eventual turn, essentially showing their hand and blowing the later reveals, they should be fine. I'm sure they're well aware of this, though. Personally, i think they've done a fine job of it so far, though there's still a lot of story to go. It really is a delicate balance... i hope they're up to it.
