Snow in Middle-earth Can't Post

From the DoS sneak peek, is anyone else excited at the prospect of seeing our characters plodding through snow? Not to mention the possibility of a slightly snow-covered Lake-Town?

It somehow adds more to the feel of the film - especially snow and fire combined Smile ... or is it just me?

The only scene I can recall from The Lord of the Rings trilogy which had any snow present (the Caradhras sequence doesn't really count - it's a mountain after all), was the Midgewater marshes with Aragorn and the hobbits.

Just seeing Bard and the Dwarves amidst a gentle snow fall looked brilliant!Laugh

That was probably the coolest bit from the excerpt. I hope the BoFA ends up being in the snow as well!

"Now this babe was of greatest beauty; his skin of a shining white and his eyes of a blue surpassing that of the sky in southern lands - bluer than the sapphires of the raiment of Manw; and the envy of Meglin was deep at his birth, but the joy of Turgon and all the people very great indeed." -The Fall of Gondolin

Battles in the snow/blizzard are always so cool and desolate-feeling.

We've seen battles in dusty plains (Last Alliance), rain (Helm's deep), brooding clouds/sunshine (Siege of Minas Tirith/Pelennor Fields) - so I guess BoFA would make for a spectacular snowstorm battle ... I honestly can't wait!

I forgot about that! Somehow though, seeing actual falling snow seems more impressive ... plus: I wonder how many "flakes" will fall victim of 3D ... Laugh

It would really make it stand out, I think. Here's hoping it will happen!

Yes! [In reply to] Can't Post

A combination of a giant dragon breathing fire in a snowy enviroment sounds great. And I'd love to see the battle of five armies in snow also. It would help separate it visually from other battles we've seen in LoTR, and thematically I think it would be quite beautiful if (SPOILERS!) we'd see the winter turning to spring with Thorin's death, if the snow would retreat and green grass and flowers would start to bloom in an area once desolated by Smaug, and the land would be awaken back to life during the funeral of the king.

I suck at getting my hopes up [In reply to] Can't Post

because now they are way up for a snow battle, especially since there was that sneak peek with snow falling. We should bombard PJ's facebook with the idea.

P.S. I'm also wondering when we will be getting more production videos...
