Ode to Thranduil Can't Post

Thranduil the elf was a-sprawled
On his throne, and he said with a drawl:
Those Dwarves are trespassing!
Go give them a thrashing!

And thus were our hearts full enthralled.

But while he sat sprawled on that throne
We noticed unusual bones:
Strange decorations-
An odd fascination
With antlers from elk overgrown.

Thranduil was good at self-draping
With rarely a need for reshaping;
But the time he spent sassing
And Leggy-harassing,
Allowed our dear dwarves an escaping.

there once was an elf who was king
he was madly in love with his bling
his throne made of antlers
made shreds of his pant-lers
and dwarves of his shyness would sing

i had a slightly more traditional, off-color pun one, but i wasn't sure if that particular phrasing was in torn's tos.

aka. fili orc-enshield
+++++++++++++++++++
the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."

this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel

Thank you for that!! Laugh Been going nutz ever since that moment in the sneak-stream when Thorin and Thranduil were nose-to-nose -- needed something to calm me down.

Whew! what a wonderful stream of new images for us to cherish. (sigh.)

Well, I'm glad I copied off your original poem! [In reply to] Can't Post

I read it to my husband who laughed as heartily as I did. Then I went to reply to it and got 'permission denied' so I anxiously clicked 'back' and got the post and poem and copied it off.

(I got "permission denied" because you had deleted your original post I was trying to reply to)

I loved the first version.

It probably teetered on the TOS line but I once posted some song lyrics that teetered in a similar way and those survived deletion.

magpie, you +totally+ made me laugh out loud.

i'll post the traditional version as well, and if the mods have issue with it, i suppose they can delete. you're right, it teeters, but perhaps when it falls down it topples on the side of "ok, we'll let it slide."

up in a sec.

And if this font looks ridiculously tiny to you, sincere apologies; I just upgraded my browser and naturally all sorts of things are wonky.

ROFL at your version #2.

I see nothing at all wrong with some decent discussion of sceptres. Especially Thranduil's. AngelicAngelicAngelic

You're not the only one. I've had to resist jumping up and down hollering *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* all day in the library. Good thing they let me in this morning an hour before opening (so I could watch the sneak peek live, bless them!), so if I did make some inadvertent squeals of drooliness, no one but the staff could hear me!

Limericks once heard wander around in the brain [In reply to] Can't Post

and can only be expelled by writing something, no matter how lame, so...

There once was a king underground
Whose judgement, we see, was not sound.
He captured some dwarves
Who escaped from his wharves
So his ego and sass took a pound - ing.

or

Oh, sing of the charm of Thranduil,
Whose beauty makes all the girls squeal.
Silver hair clean and long,
Sass to spare, arms so strong!
Before such a hunk let us kneel.

I think I did see it [In reply to] Can't Post

At least I can remember seeing something with a disembodied hand. As for defensive sleep positions, I always tried not to sleep too close to the wall (in case something crawled up it) or too close to the edge (in case something came at me from the room) and I always ran very fast past the window at the turn in the stairs that looked out over the back porch roof in case I saw that creature that William Shatner saw on the airplane peering into the window. I also went through phases of planning out what body position to fall asleep with in case I petrified over night. If I stayed straight, they could fit me in a coffin. If I made a lovely little pose - like maybe a ballerina pose - they could use me as a statue.

I guess I was a bit of a strange child.

I miss Darkstone too but I hear he's coming back. :-)

Here's mine, with apologies [In reply to] Can't Post

SWEET KING THRANDUIL
A Rocky Horror Picture Show parody

THRANDUIL

How d’you do, I
See you’ve met my
Faithful Woodland guards.
They’re just a little brought down
Because when you crashed,
They’d hoped for troubadours or bards.
Don’t get thrown off
By the way that this looks,
Don’t miss the feast for the luncheon:
I’m not much for Dwarves
That come as they may,
But I’m glad to host you, here in my dungeon.

I'm just the sweet, top Sinda
Who sits sovereign
'Oer the Silvan Elves!

So you were slinking around.
Maybe you liked the grounds?
I hope that you found your hike pleasant?
Or perhaps for a victual,
You intruded a little
On our banquet spread of sweet wine and pheasant?

THORIN

We meant not to intrude on your interlude
We meant no harm, not a farthing,
We were just passing through, came looking for you
To beg for food because we were starving.

THRANDUIL

So, grandson of Thrór,
Will you say nothing more,
What brought you forth here to Mirkwood?
Did you come here to trudge, nursing a grudge….

THORIN

From when you left us dry, like a jerk would?

THRANDUIL

I'm just the sweet, top Sinda
Who sits sovereign
'Oer the Silvan Elves!

So why don’t you stay for the night? Or maybe a bite?
You could meet my protégé soldier,
Finest training bestowed, blond hair and a bow,
And my son, would you believe, have I told’ja?

I'm just the sweet, top Sinda
Who sits sovereign
'Oer the Silvan Elves!

So go into your cell. Let’s see what you’ll tell.
You see me shiver with antici……pation!
But at least you’ll have food, ‘cuz we’re Elves and we’re good,
So I’ll remove the cause, but not the symptom.

By Brethil’s suggestion and inspiration by the mini-thread that started here , this was a parody of Sweet Transvestite, from Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
