or maybe Elessar.
Each cloak was fastened about the neck with a brooch like a green leaf veined with silver. `Are these magic cloaks?' asked Pippin, looking at them with wonder. `I do not know what you mean by that,' answered the leader of the Elves. NARF since 1974. Balin Bows

Thank you for the choco ciggie! And glad to see you're not too bleary-eyed from the midnight rousings - even though your wife is being the brave one to handle the night-time duties, still, little ones do have good lungs! My older two are 4 1/2 years apart, and my eldest loved to dote on her little brother; there must be something about that age difference, that makes the older ones see themselves as protector and teacher, as well as playbuddy. Watch out, when the little sister gets old enough to conspire with big sister! What a wonderful Christmas present - all happiness to you & your family!

of Christmas with the grandkiddies? Fantabulous! I hope you have enough snow to make snowhobbits with them! (And I'm just going to snitch a raspberry off of that cake...mmm, thanks!)

I mean, just because it's true doesn't mean it isn't the tiniest bit below the belt... ;) Now excuse me while I eat more kiwifruit for their cleansing properties. (I'm seriously getting too old for these big nights.)

But it must feel strange, selecting a Christmas tree with no snow on the ground... I'd say Eldarion is doing well, with his new-found "freedom"! He knows to be quiet, and do restful activities - as much as we'd like them to fall asleep, it is good to know they've developed that most healthy habit of reading in (or near) bed! Boy, does he have a big smile! And I like gramma's "Elfstone" monniker for little brother !

the cough is a definite trademark. As it brings asthma to me, I was using a steroid inhaler, + flonase to help control the enormous um, drainage that goes with it, making it tricky to use the cpap. I'm glad it hasn't made you short of breath--that's nasty. But it doesn't last, so feel better soon!

the even worse 3 letter word. ICE. But since I don't have to go out, tomorrow I'll wrap gifts when TTT is on TNT. Problem is, I'll be wanting to look up at the TV all the time, and I'll never get the wrapping done.

To you and your family. You new daughter is a lucky girl.
Silverlode "Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them. Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you." -On Fairy Stories

I am happy for you papa. It is such a beautiful thing. Cradling a precious 5lbs in your arms makes for such a magical time. All the best to you and the family.
"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world." Tolkien and C.S. what you are going through *cough, cough*. Talking also is difficult if not impossible without coughing. There is a gum that i really like and that is Arctic Chill Dentyne ice. It soothes, it (WOW) helps open things up and generally just makes me feel better. I hope you feel better soon.
