Guess the Phrase Game!
|
Can't Post
|
|
I haven't done any of these for a while, and since I'm in such a good mood this afternoon, I thought I should make some more. The rules: The aim of the game is to guess the character, location/place, or part of a well known sentence/poem, from the picture riddles. Some of them are (very) easy - you just have to literally take the pictures as the actual words (see example below). Some of the riddles require thinking outside of the box, or having an imagination (adding “ing” onto the end of words, for instance). Likewise, the riddles do not contain (common) words like: the, of, and, a, to, are ... and so on, so bare this in my mind. I have tried to make them so that if you can guess at least half of the pictures, you should be able to deduct the rest. You may need your book handy for the more difficult ones. Here is an example (in case all of the above has just gone “whoosh” over your head):
Answer below . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Reading this literally, one would get | BARRELS | OUT | (james) BOND |. After a bit of thinking, you will eventually get “Barrels Out of Bond”, which, as we all know, is a chapter in The Hobbit. Understood? Good! I’ll start posting some of the riddles below. They’ll be separated into several posts, just to keep within TORn guidelines. Enjoy! And remember to use your imagination! I had to to make them!

1. Bella _ -- it`s probably Belladonna, but I`m darned it I can get `donna` out of that bat thingie. 2. Carrock 3. Oakenshield 4. Wormtongue 5. Melkor 6. Fing _ could be a couple of things, but I can`t get that last pic 7. Hornberg 8. This one is also a puzzle to me -- I don`t remember Godzilla in these stories! 9. Goldberry 10. Mandos This is fun, and it must have taken you some time to set it up.

1) Well I have (obviously) Bella...but I'm not sure what the third picture is. I'm just gonna guess "Belladonna." 2) Carrock 3) Oakenshield 4) Wormtongue 5) This one seriously had me stumped for some reason I couldn't figure out "core". Melkor. 6) Fingolfin? I don't know how to get "gol" out of picture two, but that's what I'm going with! 7) French horn iceberg. 8) Yeah, I have no clue what picture two is, but I think it's Fangorn. 9) Goldberry 10) Mandos Well that was a lot of fun! Do it again sometime!
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too. And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).

Definitely need to make them harder. As for 1 (Belladonna), it's a doner kebab (awful fast food). I couldn't think of any other donna.
