The Hobbit Expanding Can't Post

It has added 127 theaters in the domestic market. Would guess it is moving into dollar theaters ahead of the DVD being released.

Every dollar helps it move a bit higher up the charts. Cool

Wish we had dollar (pound) cinemas over here! I have found them to have the more comfy seats and pleasant staff, though maybe i was just lucky!

Tiny cinema [In reply to] Can't Post

The tiny cinema I visited this week is really nice (Odeon Studio). The seats are really comfortable, and the atmosphere is cosy. Unfortunately the film is only showing in standard 3D, but I'll take what I can get. I'll be going to see it again this coming week.

Just an observation, but there seems to be more publicity for the DVD than there was for the film itself although tis the case that I wasn't paying much attention to the film before it came out.

I use to live there, and went to UEA (technically still do!) Hollywood cinema is always very cheap. Smile

Oh no hang on..... Hollywood cinema... that's somewhere else isn't it....

Awesome! They deserve it, as they are making more per theater than movies with a larger screen count. [In reply to] Can't Post

They are consistently making more money per theater than several other movies, some of which have as many as 1 thousand more screens. I was wondering if this weekend, even with Oz coming out, the number of theatres showing the Hobbit would reflect this difference. I am glad that seems to be happening. Here is to the Hobbit making well over 100 thousand again this weekend, with a 331 plus theatre count!

see my recent lament on the shrinking of the theater range [In reply to] Can't Post

i'm overjoyed that it's expanding, as i've also noticed that it's still outperforming films that have 3-10 times the representation in theaters.

the (semi) local 24-plex near me pulled it this weekend (i suspect because this was oz's opening weekend).

great news that it's (re) expanding; i hope it (re) expands near me! i said what i thought was my last goodbye to thorin and company last night on the big screen. i'm really not ready to say goodbye.
