The Hobbit Blu-ray rip leaked on the internet ?? Can't Post

So I just found out that The Hobbit's 1080p BRrip is now available for download as a torrent. How is that possible? Will it hurt the sales ?

It's been out for a number of days. [In reply to] Can't Post

Every movie that comes out these days finds its way to torrent sites and a good deal of them before the scheduled release date.

Nowadays pretty much everything leaks onto the internet [In reply to] Can't Post

The way I see it, people who download such copies can only really fall into one of the following two categories:

1. Non-fans who want to see what the fuss is about and probably wouldn't buy the DVDs anyway.
2. Fans who are just too desperate to rewatch the films and who'll buy the DVDs anyway.

That's not say to the latter are justified. I think if as fans we respect the filmmakers' efforts, we should honour them by buying officially released products.

There's also the encouraging thought that there might be a "1a" category of folks who actually become fans and buy the official stuff eventually. Who can tell... Smile
