Amazon (US) Hobbit blu-rays - Region free ? Can't Post

The Amazon UK version of the Hobbit blu-rays appears to be region-free:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/...egion/dp/B005EF1YYW/
http://www.amazon.co.uk/...egion/dp/B005EF1YD8/
http://www.amazon.co.uk/...co-uk/dp/B00BC0501Q/

What about the Amazon US versions:

http://www.amazon.com/...iolet/dp/B00BEZTMQ8/
http://www.amazon.com/...iolet/dp/B00BEZTMWW/

I'm in New Zealand, so usually aim to get region-free. However, the US versions are less expensive, include extra DVDs, and are released earlier, so I'd prefer to get those.

Can anyone confirm whether the Amazon US versions will be region-free? Or will they only work in US blu-ray (and DVD) players?

The Amazon.com DVD version [In reply to] Can't Post

is listed as Region 1. I would assume any discs sold in the US are Region 1 unless it's specifically stated otherwise.

Warner BluRays.... [In reply to] Can't Post

...are as a matter of fact region-free.

The DVD might be locked to Region 1 though.

I'm more concerned about the Blu-rays than the DVDs... [In reply to] Can't Post

As long as the blu-rays are region-free, I'll be happy. I'm not worried about the DVDs, since I can always copy them to my computer and then burn them again as region-free (or region 4).

So does it seem safe to order to the Amazon US blu-rays, regardless of where we live in the world?
