Walk to Rivendell and Beyond: There and Back Again Challenge! Can't Post

Welcome to the Walk to Rivendell, where we exercise our way across Middle Earth. Big thanks to grammaboodawg for checking back in with folks this past week while my life got hectic - and I hope you're having tons of fun in LA, gramma!

There and Back Again
Group Challenge Progress

Miles covered last week: 140
Cumulative miles: 10872.23
Miles along the journey: 724.82
Miles out of Rivendell: 327.82

This Mirkwood place is starting to get creepier. Especially as our food supplies dwindle. Those scary black squirrels keep taunting us, too. Well, one foot in front of the other, right?

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 10
Cumulative miles: 478
Goal: There and Back Again!

I have snow-shoveling miles! At long last, we have snow; only a couple inches, but it feels like a deluge with this drought we're in. And, hey, I got an upper-body workout!

Beamer's progress:
Miles covered this week: 8
Cumulative miles: 473
Goal: Group Challenge

Another slow week... [In reply to] Can't Post

Miles covered this week: 27.6
Cumulative miles: 144
Goal: There and Back Again!

I think I might have figured out where I am. Somewhere south of the Midgewater Marshes - can that be right? I'm confused, as always. Still very far to go, even to Rivendell!

I have to say though, this is great! I'm so glad I've found this challenge. It gives me some extra bit of motivation (ie. kick up the backside) to go out and get some exercise. Thank you Arandiel and gramma! And all he other walkers, too!

We're together! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there Angharad! Yes, that's me here in the tent a few hundred yards to the West (143.6 cumulative miles here). Do come over and share the stew I made with the last of the veggies I picked up in Bree. :)

And yes, we are south of the Midgewater Marshes, with more than 20 miles still left to go before we leave them behind. Good thing the road does not pass right through them...

My miles this week - 34. Snowshoeing with the dog instead of mere walking was still upping the total - and the weathermen are threatening another 6-12 inch storm over the weekend, so my mile totals may stay up next week too.

Arandiel, I hope you enjoyed the snow! It is pretty when not excessive. Smile

Oh hi there! [In reply to] Can't Post

Stew sounds good. I got some bread and cheese - and wine, if you are interested.

Yes, good thing that we don't have to go through the marshes. I hear they are not the most pleasant sort of place...

Snowshoeing sounds interesting. Not that we would have enough snow for that. Well, not that we have any snow at the moment, really. It just keeps melting away.

Week 8 [In reply to] Can't Post

We had a nasssssty snow and ice storm this week. I only posted 1.5 outdoor miles (which is all I count). While my feet are wooly and stayed warm, I gave in to prudence and walked indoors three other days this week. I don't count those, but if the group wants them, it was an additional 8 miles.

Miles this week: 1.5
Total: 112.52
Personal Goal: Erebor - contributing to Group
This Goal's Miles: 32.42 (934.58 to go)

'There is some woe that lies upon you... Why will you not tell me more?'
'For that woe is past,' said Galadriel; 'and I would take what joy is here left, untroubled by memory. And maybe there is woe enough yet to come, thought still hope may seem bright.'

Yep, you're right [In reply to] Can't Post

According to the Eowyn Challenge web site, that is! Icky midgies.

I'm glad you've joined us, too - it's so much better to meet challenges together and encourage each other on. I know it helps me stay motivated - thank you!

Have a good rest of the week!

Snowshoeing - that's great! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll have to add it to the list I'm keeping of all the different types of exercise folks have been doing on the Challenge.

Our snow got excessive (by Northern Colorado standards) on Sunday - 8 inches! - which we've needed badly. My dad, our neighbor, and my son (not quite four-and-a-half feet tall, he is) dug us out from that one, and I'm letting the sun handle the trace amount we got this morning while I stay warm inside. I have just enough time to do a couple more rows of knitting on the treadmill before heading out to another meeting.

Maybe the RL snow will knock back the M-E midges, nasty little creatures. And I hope the snow shoveling is going okay - stay safe!

Yeah, those weather maps have looked nasty for a while now [In reply to] Can't Post

As usual, we caught the edge of the latest a day or two before it blasted everyone east of us.

Stay safe and warm, Joe-M! And everyone's miles are good here; thanks for the additional 8.Smile
