Lots of miles! [In reply to] Can't Post

But it is not likely to happen again soon, I blame Winter Storm Nemo. It's amazing how many "equivalent" miles come from hand shovelling and/or snowblowing 26 inches of snow off one's driveway, walks, and deck... And then the snowshoeing with the dog instead of a regular old walk through the woods!

So, my contribution for the week: 39 miles.

I expected to wind up just past Bree, but instead I've hurried through and on through the Chetwood, soon to be approaching the Midgewater Marshes on my personal journey!

A rather slower week... [In reply to] Can't Post

... than last week. As I thought, with my daughter on holidays, this was a much slower week. Plus the poor little poppet got sick, just in time for her week off, so we couldn't go out much as we had planned.

Miles covered this week: 27
Cumulative miles: 116.4
Goal: There and Back Again!

We've made it to Rivendell! [In reply to] Can't Post

"As they rode down the steep path, Bilbo heard the elves still singing in the trees, as if they had not stopped since he left; and as soon as the riders came down into the lower glades of the wood they burst into a song of much the same kind as before. After their ponies and Gandalf's horse are led to the stables, they are welcomed into the Great Hall with food and drink already on the table."
..... (Tolkien, 1965 Ballantine, p. 279 The Return Journey: The Hobbit)

Got to admit that it's always a good thing to sleep in a soft, warm bed with a lovely feather pillow! Welcome to Rivendell, fersher!

I won't be around next week. I'm off to Hollywood to help out at The One Expected Party that TORn is hosting for the Oscars Celebration of TH:AUJ. Gonna gather a few miles there ;)

Thanks for keeping us on the road, Arandiel. Take care everyone... and keep up the great work!

Miles covered: 19
Cumulated miles: 1730
Goal: #2 Unexpected Journey Individua

That's just not fair! [In reply to] Can't Post

For your poppet to be sick during vacation is just not right! I'm sorry. I hope she's feeling better now.

You hang in there!

Well, I left Bree and I'm walking thru a brushy and rocky part of Eriador, trying to follow Strider's path. I'll miss the comforts of the Inn though!

'There is some woe that lies upon you... Why will you not tell me more?'
'For that woe is past,' said Galadriel; 'and I would take what joy is here left, untroubled by memory. And maybe there is woe enough yet to come, thought still hope may seem bright.'

What a great motivation [In reply to] Can't Post

for ALL of you! My 14yo granddaughter just started training with her Mom (my daughter) on running track. The youngster discovered she really loves it!! It's such a great thing for them to share... so I'm wishing the same closeness for you :)
