Greetings music lovers It's hard to deny that the vast majority of music has something to do with matters of the heart. The song is usually about falling in love or being scorned in love.....or sex. So in the Valentine's Day spirit, there has to be some favorite tunes out there from the TORnsters that are close to your heart. Wedding song ? Most couples have a 'song' that both parties in the relationship utterly adore together, or perhaps you'd like to dedicate a song to your sweetie Here's a few songs that have put me in a romantic mood over the years.... Billie Holiday - Let's Dream in the Moonlight I posted this recently, as I absolutely love this song.....the lyrics especially Let's dream in the moonlight Tell me that you love me Tell the stars above me What's in your heart Let's dream in the moonlight Say you're glad you found me Put your arms around me Before we part Even though it's just pretending And the night is almost through I can say I'm only lending When I give my heart to you Let's dream in the moonlight Let your lips touch mine Though we're only dreaming tonight Tonight Nat King Cole - When I Grow Too Old To Dream Stevie Wonder - Hey Love And the broken hearted... J.Geils Band - Love Stinks The Smiths - Unhappy Birthday Lee Fields - Cuttin' Out On Me And now for something completely different.... Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight
  Happy Valentine's Day

Some of my choices are pretty obvious, some, not so much. Let's Stay Together - Al Green ('nough said ) My Funny Valentine - I like Elvis Costello's version: simple but beautiful I Melt With You - Modern English Try a Little Tenderness - Otis Redding I Was Made To Love Her - Stevie Wonder Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band Unforgettable - Nat King Cole Return To Me - Dean Martin Just Like Starting Over - John Lennon At Last - Etta James Some that are more melancholy: Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers You Don't Know Me - Ray Charles Here are a couple that don't always come to mind when you think of romantic: Fairytale of New York - The Pogues (Here's the romantic bit from the duo:) He - I could have been someone. She - Well so could anyone. You took my dreams from me when I first found you. He - I kept them with me, babe. I put them with my own. Can't make it all alone. I built my dreams around you. And one of the most romantic lines from any song (IMO) comes from Born To Run: Together we can live with the sadness; I'll love you with all the madness in my soul! But I'm weird

Our wedding song was Songbird, by Christine McVie. I also always liked The Luckiest, by Ben Folds.
For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars, and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams

Roseville Fair Oh, the night was clear, And the stars were a-shinin'. The moon came up so quiet in the sky. All the people gathered 'round, And the band was a-tunin'. I can hear them now, Playin' "Comin' Through The Rye." Cho: And we danced all night To the fiddle and the banjo. Their drifting tunes seemed to fill the air. So long ago, but I can still remember How we fell in love at the Roseville Fair. You were dressed in blue and you looked so lovely, Just a gentle flower of a small-town girl. [From: http://www.elyrics.net ] You took my hand and we stepped to the music, And with a single smile, you became my world. Cho. Now we courted well, and we courted dearly, And we'd rock for hours on your front porch chair. Then a year went by from the time that I met you, And I made you mine at the Roseville Fair. Cho. So here's a song for all the lovers, And here's a tune that they can share. May they dance all night To the fiddle and the banjo The way we did at the Roseville Fair

nor is my husband. But this May we will have been together for 40 years. When we first met, he played guitar and this is one of the song he would sing: Donovan - Colours Yellow is the colour of my true love's hair In the mornin' when we rise, In the mornin' when we rise, That's the time, that's the time, I love the best. Blue's the colour of the sky In the mornin' when we rise, In the mornin' when we rise. In the mornin' when we rise. That's the time, that's the time I love the best. Green's the colour of the sparklin' corn In the mornin' when we rise, In the mornin' when we rise. In the mornin' when we rise. That's the time, that's the time I love the best. Mellow is the feeling that I get When I see her, mm hmm, When I see her, uh huh. That's the time, that's the time I love the best. Freedom is a word I rarely use Without thinkin', mm hmm, Without thinkin', mm hmm, Of the time, of the time When I've been loved.

My favorite song of all time: "Romeo and Juliet", by Dire Straits. Gotta say though, the video's pretty bad. Dire Straits didn't quite know what they were doing with music videos at first. (The video for "Tunnel of Love", also an absolutely fantastic song, is equally awful.) Of course they figured it out by the time "Money for Nothing" came along...
