On Kazinsky-vision... [In reply to] Can't Post

The scene in the trollshaw what where I first thought something was amiss in an earlier viewing, given that I could lay eyes on all other dwarves but Fili seemed physically unable to turn over (as opposed to Bilbo, who could not only get up but could hop around). I assumed this was a double that they used during the time until they recast.

This time the Kazinsky-vision turned on during Bag End in a big way. At the beginning of the Misty Mountain song, you can see Fili out of the corner of your eye, to the left, in the dark. It is clearly a non-Dean Fili, and I think it's Ron, not a double. In addition to the song scene, old Fili pops up in several spots during the entire Bag End scene, but the only way you figure it out is that you sometimes see Fili hair that looks a little different. I wondered at this point if this was why we hardly saw Dwalin with his fiddle, because when they first filmed it he might have had old Fili right near him. A non-Dean Fili also shows up briefly when they are first brought before the Goblin King--for the most part you don't see Fili at all, but then for a flash you see him stuck off to the left (it's always the left). However, for the running/fighting part, it appears to be Dean.

Clearly there had to be some creative editing done. I'm wondering if they will go ahead and do pick ups before DoS to put Dean in scenes that may have been filmed early on and don't have him in them. Might be more expensive, but sure would make it easier on the editor (although less of a fun challenge for us).
