Theoden certainly seems to be keeping a watchful eye on Aragorn. For one, he can see that Eowyn likes - or is beginning to like - Aragorn. And he also isn't quite sure what to make of Aragorn yet, I think. One the one hand, they are almost on an equal footing, with Theoden being king and Arogorn being a king in waiting, but on the other hand, he might still be a bit wary of Aragorn taking over.

I like the light-heartedness and humour in the scene though. Such a contrast to all the serious business that happens not long after.

Also, I love the kind of armour on the horses' heads (I'm sure there is a more technical term for those things, but I have no clue). The details on those are wonderful.
