The moment as Bilbo escapes from the mountains - we see Gollum shouting his 'we hates it forever' after him, then there's silence followed just by drums (I think?) as Bilbo runs down the hillside. I really like the pacing of that part.
"...under all there was a great joy: a fountain of mirth enough to set a kingdom laughing, were it to gush forth."

Love it. And those country table manners. Thorin snarly and defiant. Seems I like my Dwarves a bit rough around the edges.
...she took the point at once, but she also took the spoons.

The one in Bag End when Dori brings Gandalf his red wine, Gandy quaffs it appreciatively and is immediately chagrined to realize he's polished off the hobbit-sized wine glass in one gulp. I guess he should have ordered a bottle .... Which we reminds me, didn't we see pix in the vlogs of a wine cellar? Was that Bag End or possibly Beorn's? Was it in the movie? Just love the set designs! My mouth waters just thinking about having a pantry like Bilbo's!

Though I don't believe Bilbo would be chintzy with his own store of grape juice. Nothing improves the pleasure of eating like wine. (Okay, maybe salt. Or hot sauce.)

Balin and Dwalin embracing tearfully on the battlefield after finding each other still alive... That one's a double-whammy for the people who know that Fundin was among the dead in that battle.

It looked to me like Balin was crouched down crying, perhaps over someone he knew, when Dwalin came up to them and they embraced -- I'd wondered if it could have been Fundin. Bit of foreshadowing, perhaps, to their reactions to the deaths of the heirs of Durin in the BO5A? Surely they both love Thorin as much as anyone they lost in the Battle of Azanulbizar.
