My first choice would have been the hair stylist for sure! Second the wardrobe person. Okay. So I'll have to settle for Thorin's make-up artist. You know, help RA straighten his nose and add more eyebrows.

Something to do with scripts, or music [In reply to] Can't Post

Some part of conceptualizing the story - preproduction - would be cool.

Singing on the soundtrack would be pretty darn awesome, too.

And I would follow him around all day dressed like George Lucas. Just as a constant reminder of a very similar "prequel" ordeal.

JK, but seriously...

Gaffer, location scout, or (sorry Andy!) second unit director. In all honestly, I wish I had the opportunity to direct a version of The Hobbit. PJ, did a fine job, but I'm sure it's very gratifying watching your vision unfold on screen.

Pony wrangler. [In reply to] Can't Post

Ha! You thought I'd say something about Thorin's hair. Nope, I've always wanted to wrangle animals for movies, and have even trained one of my dogs up to where she would have been movie-dog material. Starting on my new pony now, just for fun.

And as much as it would have been fun to be involved with Thorin's hair, I think starting with RA and having to turn him into Thorin every day would have ruined the magic for me.

On the other hand, if RA needed a few lessons in horseback riding, I'd have been more than happy to oblige...

Either that or something practical in the costumes department - maybe the knitting like Rolfina said Smile

Then once that was done I'd move on to being Fili's wardrobe assistant. Evil

Set decoration [In reply to] Can't Post

Working to Alan Lee and John Howe's designs and sourcing everything to make the sets live - as Ra Vincent and his crew did. You can't imagine the detail, the seemingly inconsequential items that make it feel like a place that real people could inhabit. Oh, the shopping and rummaging to make it all happen!
And guess what! They really did have cinnamon in Middle-earth!Wink

If i could pick anything? [In reply to] Can't Post

Probably want to be the director so i could get my vision of M-e to the screen. Or a conceptual artist for the same reason.

Perhaps a screenwriter so i can roll my eyes at Phillipa, lol.

Director i think, might as well dream big right?

That was one of their best jokes, wasn't it! [In reply to] Can't Post

That "beard mo-cap", and the crew being woken after sleeping on the floor...but the best joke of all was Lee and Howe's "drawing in 3D". One of them said later it was the first and only time they'd tried doing that.

(And it was so convincing that it made it into the recent Popular Science article...I wonder if anyone's told the editor yet...)

It would be fun to be one of those making the video logs! Laugh

Seriously [In reply to] Can't Post

If I were Thorin's hair stylist in reality, it would ruin the magic not just for me, but for everyone, LOL. I have zero skills in that area, it would probably wind up looking like a mop!

Actually, the only skill I possess to some degree that I can use in a creative way that is remotely relevant to making a movie would be writing. I would love to have helped write the script! (Not as though they needed help in that area, however. Nor hairstyling for that matter, whoever designed that hair and styled it was fabulous at it... Laugh )

Was the hair different in LOTR? [In reply to] Can't Post

By that i mean did they use human hair for both lotr and auj or in lotr was it some animal hair etc?

Just seems strange how the hair has so much love this time round, especially as Thorin's looks like he is from some glam rock 80's band - hope i dont get wagging fingers from the women on here, haha.
