I think it would be an incredibly close fight. They have both destroyed cities single-handedly, can breathe fire, and are extremely powerful creatures. I think that Alduin ultimately would win, though. This is because he is supposed to be only defeated by the Dovakin who has the shouts necessary to defeat him. Even if you discount that, though, I think Alduin would still barely win. He seems more powerful than Smaug. Also, when they say Smaug has only one weak spot, I interpret that as human attacks and that attacks from another dragon is a different story and he would be just as susceptible to Alduin's attacks as Alduin is to his.
